The branches of the barren trees cast eerie sharp shadows on the moonlit forest floor. Tyrainus walked through the dim night, nerves frayed to their breaking point as he fingered the sword handle above his shoulder. A twig snapped behind him. With one quick motion he drew his sword, Eclipse, and wheeled around.
A doe, clearly surprised, eyed his sword curiously, then proceeded across the path. Just a deer he thought, once again holstering his sword and continued along his previous course. I cannot allow my paranoia to interfere, I have a job to do. he determinedly thought. The idea ran through his head that he might simply kill the deer by absorbing its metabolic energy, thereby allowing him to teleport. After all, these woods still remained untouched and the creatures unaccustomed to humans, and as a result, the doe was still in his line of sight.
He crouched and crawled swiftly towards the deer. Ascending to both feet he placed a hand on her side. As he sucked the life out of her, she tensed and tried to run, as it clearly understood what he was doing. But try as it might the deer could not run, nor breathe, and as it fell to the ground with a thud, no longer could it feel.
Tyrainus breathed deeply through his nose. He smirked as the energy coursed through his body giving him strength that which he had not felt in ages. Imagine, if you will, that throughout the duration your entire life no hours of sleep were ever missed. This is how Tyrainus felt. In his mind's eye he visualized the headquarters of the terrorist group. With a flash he was gone, leaving behind nothing but the smell of burning ozone.
With a likewise effect, he arrived at the base that, not to his surprise for he had dressed for the occasion, was suffering a driving blizzard. He stood up in the snow and accessed the wrist module, memorizing the two faces. One to rescue, one to kill. Quick and simple, just the way he liked it. However, looking at the base about 3 miles away, every detail, every schematic, every nook, cranny, crawlspace, and storeroom poured into his head. The layout did not seem quick and simple. Here we go he thought, half anxious, half shaking with excitement.

The base was an unforgiving structure in appearence. And the profile of activities merely reinforced the feeling. Still, Tyrainus was not one to be intimidated and he didn't start now. Leaning against the side of the entrance wall he peered around to glimpse the entrance itself.
Aside from the massive steel overhang and watchtowers, the two cavernous iron doors were lit by dim yellow light and guarded by only two guards. Cake he thought smugly. But as he begun to shift his weight to the other side of the wall he noticed a barely visible beam of green light. He clenched his teeth and hid himself once more. Damnit, he swore to himself Infrared motion beams. But I know that's not the only way in here. He stepped back and searched the wall until he found what he was looking for. An exhaust vent fifty feet up on the side of the wall.
It was imposible to reach the vent of his own accord. After teleporting he didn't have enough energy to do it again without killing himself. Searching, he found a pile of ammunitions crates and hoisted himself up to the top. He jumped several times, using the wall's flat surface as leverage and with one lithe flip he landing on the lip of the vent. He was hesitant, the contents of this vent were not air, which is why he chose it because it was made with iron and not aluminum. So he wouldn't sound like a seige machine every time he took a step. However, what did come out of this vent was air and water heated at hundreds of degrees. Therefore he threw caution to the winds and hauled balls through the vent.
In the corridors below, the floors were polished black marble, the walls where polished white fiberglass and the doors were mechanized and opened with a slight hiss. Tyrainus observed this through a plexiglass window which opened to service the vent. How very generic Tyrainus thought blandly. Suddenly, of to his right he heard an empty gurgly blowing sound. Mortified he saw the water and exhaust barreling down on him. He had no time to respond, not even in his head. Without pausing he summoned his strength and punched through the plexiglass, falling to the floor and sprinting towards any branching hallway.
Unfortunately, this did not go unnoticed, as soon as he fell, one of the guards punched an emergency button on the wall. An alarm blared and soldiers poured out of concealed doors surrounding Tyrainus and blocking every route of escape.
No he thought frantically. He did not want to kill all of these soldiers just to reach the storeroom only 10 feet away. He did not see any other option though, so he grabbed the hilt of Eclipse. One of the men opened his mouth to tell him to put it down, but he was too late. Eclipse was out and in the shape of a ten foot sword. Tyrainus spun around several times, each time extending Eclipse by five feet, cleanly dividing all enemy soldiers in half. He deshaped Eclipse and dashed into the storeroom just in time for the exhaust to come roaring out of the open pipe.
The pressure was immense, actually rending the metal around the hole like a bear's claws through flesh. Tyrainus heard the sound, which was not unlike a tornado, even through the gigantic steel door. When it stopped he opened the door. Steam clouded his vision and puddles dotted the floor. This is taking too long!!! Tyrainus thought, vexed. He concentrated on his location and plotted the best route through the hallways. He finally planned a route that would take him through the base and to the prisoner and the leader of the terrorist operation. Deciding to kill the leader first he redrew Eclipse. If I want to save time I'll have no choice but to kill anyone who tries to stop me. He formed Eclipse into his favorite form, a katana that constantly glowed with white-hot heat as if just withdrawn from a blast furnace. As he proceeded swiftly he dreaded the coming minutes, for though he was paid to kill, he tried to avoid it when possible.
Luckily, he mad it to the master chamber nearly without incident. He stared at the black door. It was encrested with rubies. Shame to ruin such a fine piece of work. he thought sardonically. With no unnecessary yells to emphesize the action, he blasted the door open with an energy burst. He jumped inside the spacious, black room lit with red light. Now on the elevated platform there was no villain stroking a cat and maliciously chuckling and saying things like, "I've been expecting you." such things only happen in movies. Instead there was a shocked and pissed off villain standing and growling at Tyrainus.
They stared at each other for barely a fraction of a second before the man, named Brixus Grinal, shouted, "Seize him." And, as he was seized by two robotic drones, Tyrainus was surprised for the first time. Brixus did not speak Korean, even though he was in Korea and was a mix between Korean and Saudi Arabian, nor did he speak Araibic. He did not speak Hebrew, Gailick, or Chinese. Not even the most unlikey tongues like Russian, German, or Hungarian. Instead he spoke in Latin.
Tyrainus spoke over 30 languages fluently and though he knew much Latin it was among the few not listed in that area. So he did his best to speak, "I-" But Brixus cut him off.
"Save your words, I know why you are here bounty hunter." he spoke calmly now, in English. Perfect english, who was this man?
Tyrainus was bound and forced to his knees.
"Take his sword." Brixus said to a third drone. It obliged, taking Eclipse and placing it on the hexagonal table in the upper left corner of the room. Tyrainus followed it with his eyes then turned them to Brixus. Brixus had a skin tone, as best as Tyrainus could tell, like that of a pale hispanic man. He had a full beard and wore a clean business suit that had wrapped around it bullet belts. His face was devoid of emotion and his green eyes had a malicious glint to them.
Unperturbed, Tyrainus responded to him, "So then, Brixus is it, if you know why I'm here please share with the class."
Brixus glared and snapped his fingers. A short man, quite possibly a grunt, stepped up to Tyrainus and butted him hard in the chin with a rifle. His vision blurred and refocused, the impact hurt beyond words. Tyrainus coughed and spit gobs of blood onto the polished floor.
Brixus turned around and leaned over a keyboard on a large computer module.
"Do not respond to me unless I allow otherwise Yakori."
Tyrainus was beyond stunned. He had wiped that name from his record. No database anywhere should have it stored. This thoroughly pissed him off. Yet, he could not respond lest he risk being butted again.
"Now, I am a forgiving man," Brixus continued, "so I will not only forget your insubordination, but I will also submit to your request. I do know why you are here. This is why." he pressed a key on the board and a gigantic screen projected onto the enormous wall. A colored image appeared on the wall. It was security footage and in it was a solitary woman chained by her hands and ankles to the wall. She had lusterous black hair and the remains of a tattered stealth suit. Her head was down as if she was resting.
Brixus smiled maliciously, which, achieved a simple action that few other things could, it unnerved Tyrainus.
"Do you know this woman Tyrainus?" Brixus asked, his tone masking something far more sinister. The sight of the woman brought every detail about her physical and mental structure flooding into Tyrainus' mind. But nothing matched with his current knowledge. He shook his head.
Brixus smiled even broader and pushed another button. Tyrainus lurched forward in vain as he saw the woman jerk awake and scream as electricity coursed through her body. He saw her face, which only worsened his compulsion to help as she was in obvious pain. Tyrainus saw red and felt the pent up energy pulse through his veins. But he fought the urge. Brixus was still unaware of the fact he'd been sent there to kill him. That file existed only in the computer on his wrist and he could not let his anger destroy the plan rapidly forming in his head.
Brixus, however, issued a malicious snicker.
"You wish to help Yakori? I've read your file and it says you work with as little emotion as a hungry wasp. She is a complete stranger, captured three days ago for information. As a member of the CIA I'd hoped she'd be more useful." Brixus began pacing the deck of the elevated platform, "Sadly, it appears I was mistaken." He sighed farcely, "But no matter I'm sure there are other," he side-glanced at his men lining the wall, "services for which she could be used."
The men chuckled and whistled. That did it. To hell with the plan!! Tyrainus thought as he focused the energy on the muscles in his feet. With one backflip he broke the bonds and flung the drones at Brixus who leapt just in time to avoid the resulting explosion. Not a moment after Tyrainus landed again on his feet did he thrust his hand toward Eclipse and shout,
"RETURN!!!" The sword leapt into its master's hands. Tyrainus ran at unnatural speed along the line of men. In less time it took to blink he drained all fifteen of every ounce of metabolic energy. In his peripheral he saw a swarm of robotic drones advancing toward him. He fired a massive beam obliterating the lot of them along with the opposite wall.
"Hold it bounty hunter!!" Brixus shouted. Tyrainus wheeled around to see him standing above the intact keyboard. Blast it, I missed Tyrainus thought.
"I've set the voltage to 15,000, one more step and she's toast." He said.
Tyrainus faked a defeated look.
"Fine Brixus I'll not take another step." Then he smirked. "Not another step." Suddenly, he whipped his hand forward. In the split second that followed he heard a scrack followed almost immediately by a thunk as Eclipse's growing blade shot through Brixus's skull and impacted the wall behind him. Tyrainus retracted the blade allowing Brixus' brain matter to drop to the floor soon followed by Brixus himself. He looked coldly upon the corpse, a hole in place of his nose and mouth, the blood vessels in the sclera of his barely distinguishable eyes had broken staining them red, leaving him looking barely human, and what little brain matter was left inside the skull was clearly visible through the fresh, hand sized hole. And as he turned to leave the room he sheathed Eclipse and looked back on Brixus. He felt no remorse, or nausea, or even sadness. He rarely felt proud of his work but this was one of the few exceptions.
"Well Brixus, it looks as though you won't be taking any more steps either." With that said he walked calmly from the room. After all he had a job to finish.

The hallways were dead. Silent, like a graveyard. Yet Tyrainus not dare run, his thoughts had become far too influenced by his emotions and running now meant exposing himself to danger he may or may not have been ready for. 'I need to concentrate on the mission.' he kept thinking. So he did, but with much difficulty.
He arrived at the polished chrome door that led into the prison chambers. Not knowing what lay ahead he proceeded with the utmost of care. Any false move and he may end up like Brixus. He walked so silently that he could've surprised a bat. The same could be said of the guards, who were spending they're break in a concealed room. Tyrainus heard the high whine of a TV and could tell exactly what it was they were watching. And the action they were also doing. 'What the hell!?!' he exclaimed.
He picked up his feet and moved down the short, unlit hall. At the end of the hall wass a sliding Plexiglas door. In the room on the other side he saw the woman. He searched the door and the narrow wall for an way in. It didn't take him too long. A typical, 12 key panel hung by the side. 'Oh well' he thought and pulled back a fist to punch through the glass. It was then he noticed the sensors placed inside the frame. "The security in this place is thorough." he said under his breath. Then he smirked as an idea presented itself to him. Turning to face the door to the concealed room. "But they never take human error into account."
He rushed the door and barged in to find a very surprised guard.
"Who the hell are you!" the guard said rising. He had a Turkish accent but looked anything but Turkish. "It's not important who I am." Tyrainus said. "What is important is what recreation you choose to do in your spare time." he said pointing down.
"What does it matter if I cut myself?!?!" the guard said indignent.
Tyrainus waved the question, "Now, Brixus sent me here to check the health of the prisoner." "If you're going to claim that I'll need some proof." the guard said, skeptical. "Will this suffice?" Tyrainus said, holding out Brixus' security card he'd thought to grab. "Yes." the guard responded.
He arose from his chair and led Tyrainus to the door.
"Give me your card so I can swipe it." the guard said entering the code.
Tyrainus eyed his outstretched hand.
"I'll do it myself, forgive me but my gloves are of no use if they already have medical waste on them." The guard flushed,"Yes...well...fine then...go ahead!"
Tyrainus swiped the card. The door hissed open. And almost immediately after he stepped into the room the door shut behind him. 'That's comforting.' he thought sarcastically. He was slightly intimidated by the room as every wall was a mirror.
"I already told you people all I know." he heard the woman say coldly.
"That's alright ma'am." "Don't BS me with your false attitude of kindness!" she yelled, pulling the chains. "You've done to much to try and change tactics now. Even if I knew more I would not tell you!"
Her face was hard, her blue eyes leered through the black hair that had fallen over her face.
"M-my kindness is real miss. I've just been hired for my psychiatric abilities." he said with the perfect impression of a native of India. Still glaring she asked, "So you're here to check my mental health?" "Yes."
She said nothing for a moment, then relaxed and became, once again calm. "Fine." she whispered.
"Alright," he said sitting on the ground. He pulled a stylus from the side of the wrist module and pulled up the checklist of information. He had to be sure he was saving the correct person. "Is your name 'Adrian Moena?" he asked. "Yes." she replied. Checking that off he asked another question. "How long have you been employed in the CIA." "That information is classified, as I've already said a thousand times." an edge crept into her voice. "Alright my mistake. OK, were you sent here on a rescue, assassination, or reconnaissance mission." "Reconnaissance." "How long have you been here?" "Three to four weeks. I can't be sure without the sun." "It has been three. Have you experienced any hallucinations or deliriums at any point?" "No." Then he said, lowering his voice, "Do not make any sudden movements." "What?" she said utterly bewildered. He knew the mirrors were one-way, and several guards were likely watching, so he played it off like he had asked a question.
"I said, 'What is the day you were captured?" "Monday, what does that have to do w-" He held a finger to his lips then whispered, not daring to lean forward, "My name is Tyrainus Eclipse, I've been sent to rescue you." Her eyes widened slightly. "How will you do that?" she asked softly.
His only reaction was a trademark smirk. Without warning he leapt up and broke her bonds. Alarms blared and soldiers rushed in through mirrored doors. They backed Tyrainus into the wall Adrian had been strung up to, machine guns pointed at his face.
"Ma'am," he said in his real voice, "Hold on to me tight." She did as commanded just as he sent small beams of energy from his palm that rushed through the room, seeking out every last soldier and knocking them unconscious. Then, focusing the reserve energy he teleported them to safety.
Five miles outside the base he landed gracefully and felt his charge slide from his back. He then stood up and faced the bunker behind him. 'Time to finish the job!' he thought. With the last of his reserve power, he fired a beam of red light and heat, obliterating the headquarters and ending the threat the terrorists posed.
His vision tunneled and he fell backwards into the snow.
