Translation List San - This is the most common and neutral of honorifics. The polite way to address someone you’re not on close terms with is to use “-san”. It’s kind of like Mr. or Ms., except you can use “-san” with first names as easily as family names. Chan - Used for friendly familiarity, mostly applied towards young women and girls. Kun - Like “-chan”, it’s an informal suffix for friends and classmates, only “-kun” is usually associated with boys. It can also be used in a professional environment by someone addressing a subordinate. Sama - Indicates a great deal of respect and admiration. Sensei - Teachers, doctors, writers, or any master of a trade are referred to as “sensei”. When addressing a manga creator, the polite thing to do is attach “sensei” to the manga-ka’s name (as in McPherson-sensei). Anything else that will need to be explained will be noted and explained at the end. Now please enjoy BOREDOM Volume 1.

Chapter I. Bad Joke
"For centuries, theologians have been explaining the unknowable in terms of the not-worth-knowing." -Henry Louis Mencken
---...---...---...---...---...---...---...---
Humanity is full of conflicts and peaces, it's full of opinions and facts, and most importantly, beliefs and emotions. As such, the entire human life span is always focused on one's own perspective, or someone else's point of view of things, and as such, there are ways that create loopholes for everyday normal beings. After all, there's something we don't know.
There's a world that only the people involved know about. That world full of supernatural and hidden secrets. The world that has the potential to destroy us, but at the same time, saves the entire world as it is such the powers.
This is just simply one of those stories. Just one part of an entire thing, as the world is composed of many different stories, different secrets, different truths, and most important of all, different lives.
This story particularly is about the humans who had very horrible things happen to them, and because of that, they close themselves. When you close yourself up, you lose depth and your personality to what could be your character. When that happens, you lose something that is the most vital thing to a life and what defines you as different under the watchful eyes of the so called other world.
Your soul.
When you lose your soul, however, there's a chance that it can be bought off. That, is how the world of boredom is formed.
It must be God's way of telling a joke.
This story starts off with a so-called heroine by the name of Sarah Gesellé. Sarah's a rather normal girl, she was born into a poor family and looks like your average blonde with bright blue eyes and only stood at the short height of 5'3. Sarah was born in America with a French father who died at the age of twenty-five with a rare form of prostate cancer. Sarah was only five years old when that happened but her mother remarried to her Japanese language teacher, who had been a neighbor since before Sarah had been born. A year after, they had consummated Sarah's little brother, Abraham.
While this is only basic background, Sarah is a rather simple girl. She holds a deep seething hatred for anyone taller then her and they point it out, and has a very simple life plan. She plans to become a therapist for consoling people's emotions. Sarah at the moment, is only sixteen years old, but knows an encyclopedic amount of information when it comes to the many strange people that live in the world. It wasn't until a few months before our story begins that she found an article her stepfather had picked up from one of his magazines from back in his native lands. That was when she got the idea to try and transfer to Japan.
Thus, we have the beginning.

At the moment, Sarah was staring dully at the ceiling, not quite sure what to do otherwise, as her hands were politely in her lap and bunching uncomfortably in her winter uniform. For the next three months, she would be an official foreign exchange student for Asagi Academy High in Matsuhara, Japan.
"Sarah! Are you listening!?" An almost squeaky annoying voice asked, looking at her with a firm glare. It was a Japanese student, same school as the school Sarah was going to transfer to, and she had really dark brunette hair with the same eye color. Sarah felt a roll happen in her eyes slightly, as she started to hear an odd noise from the back of her mind and just spoke lightly,
"Un, un. I'm listening. I'm just here waiting for someone, right?"
"We're not waiting for just anyone Sarah!" The blonde felt a light bit of irritation as she heard her first name with such comfort coming from the head council member of the freshman for the school. The girl brushed her hair back, yelling some more, "Haruhane Eisel isn't just anyone! You're really lucky, you know, I mean it's just because you're the student they choose to come here from America, but you also get to live with him!" Sarah felt her eyes roll again. One, she worked very hard to get good enough grades to be considered for the foreign exchange student program, and two, she was luckily the only one out of all the good students who could actually speak Japanese.
"Shouldn't I be with a female family though?" Sarah found herself questioning, not quite sure of what their logic was with pairing with whoever this Haruhane Eisel was. The council member spinned around momentarily, getting a pair of shiny eyes before going back down to her and gave Sarah a very visible pout.
"You're really lucky. The Eisel family have always held the foreign exchange program here, besides, it's not like you really have to worry about anything." The girl turned away for a moment, almost in an angry motion. The blonde found one of her eyebrow's raising in confusion and jumped up as a cool voice muttered,
"Are you Gesellé?" Sarah turned in her chair and immediately found herself staring at a gorgeous man. Granted, Sarah was never really the type of person to like glasses framing a person's face almost thickly, but the dark black frames seemed to fit his face very well. Sarah just found herself staring and thinking many things that should had not been in a normal fifteen-year-old girl's mind. The man spoke again, assuming she was who she was, "I'm Eisel, Haruhane." Sarah could now see why the council member was jealous of her. "I'm here to escort you to your host home." He is really handsome, Sarah thought to herself. Finding a blush on her face, she muttered back,
"Yeah...I'm Gesellé, Sarah." Sarah then boldly put her hand out, a smile on her face in happiness just at the thought of being in the same household of this dark-haired megane (1) and managed to sneak out, "Nice to meet you!" There was silence all around the room. Haruhane just stared at the hand for a moment then looked down to Sarah's face and simply replied,
"I'll meet you in the car." Then he exited the room and Sarah just found herself staring at the door with some shock. That was really impolite!
"Like I said, nothing to worry about." The other occupant in the room voiced her opinion, "Eisel-san doesn't really show any interest in people. I think he's only dealing with you because of his father." SNAP[/I]. Sarah felt her temper tick but breathed inwardly to herself while the little part of her argued and yelled at the dark-haired girl behind her and just replied,
"I see." Well...she supposed if someone wasn't made for interaction they wouldn't really know what to do with someone like her. After all, she was quite unusual sometimes, especially since she constantly mixed the traditions of the Japanese legacy and the mix-mashed cultural box of America together. Sarah then turned momentarily and gave her a frown, "I'll see you Monday then!" And she exited out the door to follow after the somewhat anti-social brunet. Upon exiting Sarah was immediately shocked to see a white limo parked right out in front of her. She stared and couldn't help but think that the Eisel family might be rich.
"Good afternoon Ms. Gesellé." She was going to have a heart attack if people kept sneaking up on her. She looked over to the side to see an old man who surprisingly stood up quite straight and his eyes had seemed to be in a permanent closed position. "It's nice to make your acquaintance." The butler politely continued and lightly offered her a hand, which she took.
"N-nice to meet you too..." Was it her or did this guy have an English accent? Either way, it was very strange. The world of the rich had always been a thing beyond her imagination and now she might even be entering in it. No way though, right? There was no way the Eisel family was actually rich, right? Sarah was never that lucky. The butler (who introduced himself as Walter), then opened the limo door for her to crawl in and she did, across the man sitting calmly in the comfortable seats. After all, a rich man wouldn't be wearing what Haruhane was wearing, right? Rich men don't pierce just one ear right? Now that she had a chance to look at him closer from a comfortable viewpoint, Sarah did have to admit, he really was handsome.
His hair matched his eyes, it wasn't rare to see that in Japan, but the way it matched his eyes was slightly creepy. His left ear was pierced with a pure small black earring that looked like it had been on there for a very long time, and he was currently wearing some strange blue scarf and the rest of his clothes to match. But he seemed a rather comely man with the silent feature. Time passed and Sarah found herself bored, especially since the annoying noise in her head started again.
'Why is he SO quiet!? I mean is he just plain rude or that shy!? It makes no sense that he's so quiet! You'd think he'd be interested in me at least a LITTLE bit!' Sarah felt the annoying screaming voice in her head yell, debating if she should actually yell it the person of her concern. However, instead of that, she opted to try and make conversation. "Neh, neh, Eisel-san! Are you near or far sighed? I mean, you could probably afford eye surgery, right?" Sarah reached out for the dark frames over his eyes and pulled them off. At that instant, she found herself staring again, he looked so different without them on! Even more handsome! It was shocking to her!
"...May I have my glasses back?" Haruhane politely asked, though he stared with a slightly cold look in his eyes. Oops, she couldn't help but think, but then she felt a little heartbeat. Aha! How horrible! It's so obvious to her that she's found a crush! This was her first time having a crush now that she thought about it. Haruhane was still staring, obviously waiting for his glasses back but Sarah mischievously replied,
"Not until you tell-" while she meant to finish the sentence, the abrupt stop to the limo urged her forward to falling across into the lap of the man across her. Haruhane did not bulge one bit and looked up to mutter across to Walter.
"Walter, what's wrong?"
"I'm not sure young master, but I believe a tire blew out."
"We'll walk from here then Walter." It was that time that Sarah took the time to notice that Haruhane did not have one itty-bitty reaction to her falling on him. Not anger, no frustration, and no...well...other reaction that she would have personally liked to have irked from the cold man. She also then noticed that she had seemed to have broken the brunet's thick frames. Crap. Sarah hoped he wouldn't get too mad, how was she supposed to know that the limo's tire would blow out? She had only partially been listening to the conversation but when Haruhane mentioned walking, she felt a little quease in her stomach. Sarah hated walking. As the two exited, they started walking down the streets, which Haruhane seemed to easily glide through the names. The blonde was privately admiring that talent, she was horrible with directions when given to her by street names.

However as the long trek (to her at least, they hadn't even been walking for ten minutes) continued, Sarah found herself worrying and annoyed at the same time. Haruhane wasn't talking at all and he didn't even seem irritated by the fact he could only a few feet in front of his eye-span. Haruhane wasn't even scolding her for breaking the glasses and he was just as silent as a lone wolf. That weird annoying noise started in her mind once again, she really hated that noise. It was something like a buzz that you would hear from a loud buzzer on game shows in the old days of Jeopardy, she really couldn't take the silence. It was something she disliked, even as a child.
"Eisel-san-" Sarah started, desperate on finding the source of all the horrible silence and destroying it completely. Her wish came true, as she found herself screaming at a sudden force bursting behind her, rocks flying past her head as she ducked down in instinct. The blonde then turned around, thinking randomly about if explosions were common in Japan or not and found herself staring momentarily at a sickly looking boy who was covered with rubble that had formed the wall behind him. She only had a moment to notice something flying at her when someone blocked it. A loud SPLURT seemed to overtake the area as something bony dug into Sarah's savior's hand. The woman who saved her looked up at her assaulter and muttered darkly,
"Condemned Soul, seal within my illusion. Chosen path, die." Sarah watched as a strange mass of pure purple energy cover the woman's entire hand only to fly into the bony object embedded into her hand and up to the owner of the bony weapon. Sarah stared as the sickly looking boy screeched in terror and anguish, and all she could do was stare in bewilderment as the woman stood up to completely suck the boy's body into that purple mass and back into her hand. Gulping, Sarah forced herself to ask,
"I-I'm sorry, did we get in the way of some kind of movie thing? Those are really good effects." Why did she feel like what she was saying was not even close to what she wanted it to be? Surprisingly though, Haruhane finally spoke,
"This isn't some kind of computer thing, is it?" Sarah turned around and stared as a weird glow surrounded Haruhane's hand. He stared at it unintently and the blonde felt herself jump as someone spoke in the background,
"Another one?" It was the woman, her hand was bleeding and her dark brunette hair was flying in the air from the strange act of making the body of the sickly boy disappear.
"He hasn't chosen sides yet though!" This time came out someone from the broken wall, he looked young with dark hair and what shocked Sarah more was his red eyes with a tattoo above his right eye. This stranger seemed happy though at whatever 'choosing sides' had meant to him.
"Hey wait, what are you talking about? What's going on here?" Sarah tried her best to get confirmation on the situation at hand and moved a bit closer to the stranger longhaired woman, "Eisel-san, do you kno-" BASH. Sarah felt a hard fist in her stomach, and it was definitely the most painful thing she had ever went through in her life before. Not that was really saying anything, Sarah had never really ever been in a fight. The blonde felt her vision blur dangerously as she started to fall. At that, she felt a random piece of philosophy ransack her mind as she determined herself to memorize the woman who knocked her out looks. Abnormally, she was tall for a Japanese woman, and in that sense she was also not the usual slim figure Sarah was used to seeing with the Asian culture, but made of a strong woman. Like every one Sarah had met though, the girl had dark hair, and her eyes were as dark as her hair except in the tint of blue. Her mole though, that would definitely be a major factor to recognizing her, Sarah decided. This woman was the first person she had ever met with a mole, right beneath her right eye.
Images flashed through her shut mind, a crying dark-haired boy with blood dripping from his head. A young shorthaired girl with tears pouring from her blank eyes. A small boy with bruises on his arms and a look of a want of tears, but he didn't look like he possessed the strength to do it at all.
"Sarah, someday you'll find the truth." The memory flashed through her mind. Her father, bald, skinny, and deathly looking. An innocent counterpart of her stared up to the skinny man with a look of confusion,
"Father?" Father? That was her father? Was it really? Sarah felt a shudder run down her spine as her father continued speaking,
"When you do Sarah, try to help others." There had been a painful look on the man's face as he shuddered in torment, giving one cough and started to pathetically cry. "The truth is...we all need help saved." Then there was that horrible noise. That ugly 'bzzzz' noise that Sarah wish would just stop. Why was she remembering all of this? It couldn't be real, right!?
"What does this mean? What is with these strange things?" She looked at her hand in some desperate form of connecting to the truth but found that it was impossible from just staring at the palm of her hand. The chaos, the noise, and the mass of darkness around her seemed to all silence as a figure appeared behind her. It was that woman,
"It's all an illusion." Her voice was quiet and calm. AS though the swirling darkness was a commonplace thing. The dark-haired woman then looked around for a moment and seemed to mutter, "The mind's capabilities of a 'normal' person is amazing." She then looked over at Sarah with a soft look that seemed dulled over time, "You'll be waking up soon, but you may have to forget."
"F-Forget?" The American asked in confusion, as she tried to rack all of her mind for knowledge of what could have possibly been happening to her. After all, places like these weren't normal at all, right? That and this person said something about a 'normal' person. What did that make her? Sarah was about to ask more questions when images flew out her mind rapidly. Disgusting blood-curdling images of death, sex, and disfiguration. Sarah found herself overwhelmed by the images and let the production build up in her throat before throwing it all out. The gloved taller woman across from her seemed unconcerned by the vomiting girl in front of her and Sarah found tears starting to slip out. Did she actually really see that? She saw rape, she saw a baby born without its arm and part of its head missing, she saw murder, and she saw someone fly to their death with ease and a demented smile of peace on their face. That couldn't have been possible, she couldn't have really seen it!
"WHO ARE YOU!? Why are you doing this to me!?" The blonde opted to blame the one who didn't even seem an inch concerned about the situation at hand. In return she turned and looked back momentarily speaking one solemn sentence before more images of horror flooded Sarah's mind,
"My name doesn't matter, but I do what I do, from boredom." Boredom!? BOREDOM!?[/b] That was it? Sarah found herself screaming in terror as the images continued to flood her entire being.

Outside of Sarah's torment sighed the dark-haired boy who had peeked into the room they escorted the two the woman had knocked out. The boy, Ganego Shizuma, turned to the older brunette and gave a dark sigh.
"Izu-chan, I understand knocking them out, but did you have to knock them out?" Ganego questioned said 'Izu-chan' but the woman simply replied dully,
"I'm sorry."
"You say not sounding sorry at all." Ganego moved his hands around, giving out another loud sigh and one of those hands drifted to push part of his hair back, staring uneasily at the woman who continued to stare at him. Before Ganego could continue speaking though, a voice from the right started speaking in a rough accent that Ganego could barely understand, but got the gist,
"Oh back off Ganego," Ganego felt a sigh in the back of his mind from the d'jinn (2), "Izuru, let me see your hand." The teenager felt himself jump at this as the red-skinned d'jinn pulled Izuru down to his flouting level and pulled off her right glove. The magical being glared down at her hand, seeing five dots connecting to the center with lines, but three of those lines were scratched out. "You've already fought three of them today? Izuru, remember your maximum absorbs per day is five."
"Sorry, that'll be my fault. I told her to go ahead and absorb them; they were all newly turned so I didn't think it would make any harm or difference." The d'jinn immediately screamed,
"IDIOT[/I]! You know very well that if Izuru exceeds her absorption limit of the day she could lose her powers!" Another sigh came from the back of Ganego's mind. So he bowed, apologizing to D.J. A scream interrupted (thankfully) and Ganego immediately went into the room, a bright grin upon his face as he was greeted with a foreign face full of tears.
"Good morning!" The face faltered a bit, staring at Ganego with a look Ganego was used to receiving,
"It's the afternoon."
"Oh that's right!" Ganego hit his head, sticking his tongue out as though he had really made a mistake on the time of day, "Well the meaning's the same either way!" The stranger stared from her futon blankly then seemed to look away for a moment. Sarah then shouted on the top of her lungs to the younger teen,
"DON'T DISTRACT ME!" Ouch. She had lungs. Ganego rubbed his ears for a moment, laughing slightly but then came the part he really hated. The questions. "W-What's going on here? Why did you knock me out? Where am I and who was that strange girl?" Sarah then looked back down to her futon and felt a shudder cross up to her spine, "And then there was those horrible illusions." The dark-haired teen stared and lowered his gaze for a moment. Sarah had to look up as he started to speak softly, bowing slightly.
"It's the world of boredom." Boredom. There was that word again. "People lose their personalities because bad things happened to them, and break. They basically lose control over their soul. God knew that He needed to fix this, so He started giving those who lose their souls a reason to live. To protect those who couldn't defend themselves from the supernatural." Ganego's stare turned darker as he spoke more, "But the dark side," Sarah wanted to laugh at that, it sounded cheesy, but Ganego's face stopped her from even opening her mouth, "got wind of this and started to recruit his own minions with seemingly more benefits." The teen then closed his eyes and smiled lightly, "Nowadays though, it's just focused on whoever gets more contracts signed and whoever gains more power. Hello, it's nice to meet you," This time Ganego did a full bow and the blonde just stared blankly, "I'm Shizuma Ganego, and I'm the official human contact of the good boredom here in Matsuhara."
Sarah of course found herself confused by everything except the introduction. There really wasn't anything she understood about that at all, "You hear that, mister?" Ganego seemed to address someone and Sarah turned and happily cried out,
"Eisel-san!" Haruhane Eisel was up from his own futon, which was near Sarah's own and seemed to look over at Ganego dully.
"Eisel-san, huh?" Ganego smiled in a large manner then continued speaking, "Those things I just said. They apply mostly to you." The female in the room found herself growing more and more confused. Huh?
"How so?"
"Because...you have the potential to be someone with boredom powers." There was a nice quiet moment of silence, of which Sarah took the time to contemplate what on the green Earth Ganego had just explained to her. Okay, boredom people are people who 'broke' and signed a contract. Supposedly when they signed the contract they gained the power to fight against the supernatural. So...does that mean Haruhane didn't have a personality? Haruhane then spoke, holding up his hand as the strange glow came around,
"So?"
"Heh. I knew you'd say something like that. Let's just say that if you sign a contract, life will at least give you a little more entertainment and comfort, I promise." Ganego gave a sly wink but Sarah found herself feeling uneasy about this thing and its entire meaning.
"Whatever."
"WAIT! Wait! Eisel-san, a contract though! You have to think about these kind of things first!" Sarah found herself standing from her futon and shaking her arms around, concern for her new crush. It would be bad if he got into some kind of severe trouble because of the contract! After all, contracts are powerful and binding! Ganego smiled though,
"Don't worry. This thing will just end up helping Eisel-san out." Ganego gave a very promising look, of which Sarah found her eyebrow raising slightly at. "So no worries!" Ganego patted her lightly on the back and she found herself just staring blankly at the dark-haired boy.
"But wait! There's a flaw in your plan!" The furious blonde pointed directly to the teen's nose, glaring fiercely at the assuming red-eyed boy. "You're saying that Eisel-san has the ability to become someone with these boredom powers, or whatever, but that would mean that Eisel-san doesn't have a personality, so you have to be wrong! There's no way that Eisel-san went through anything that ba-"
"Shut up." His voice echoed the room un-needlessly and when Sarah turned to see him, she froze as there was an angered glare upon his face and all the fury and anger was directed at her. "You know nothing about me, so shut up." For some strange reason, that sentence really hurt.
"I'm sorry."
"Hey, don't worry," Ganego whispered to her, patting her back lightly, "It's just his body's natural response."
"...What?"
"Well you see, for most boredom, or even potential boredom people, if you say a few certain keywords, it'll usually trigger back bad memories that they tired hard to block. So naturally the body tries to find a way to stop it, because those memories are really painful." Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. Her first day in Japan...and all of this stuff happened. Her host brother had something so bad happen to him that he was broken, she had stumbled upon a world that she had yet to really understand and...all of this was entirely too confusing to her. Ganego seemed to stare softly at her for a few seconds but then clapped his hands, making the blonde jump. "Well time to get up Eisel-san! So you can sign the contract!" Ganego turned and yelled loudly, making Sarah cover her ears, "D.J.-SAAAAN. THIS GUY SAID HE'D SIGN THE CONTRACT!" Ganego then turned around again and pointed to Haruhane, "What's your full name?"
"Eisel Haruhane." A cheerful smile erupted from the boy's face,
"Call me Go-chan, Haru-san!"
'Bold...Shizuma-san is bold...' (3) Sarah thought, as she couldn't help but stare at the brimming sunshine Ganego. Even Haruhane seemed to be a little put off from the happy teen.
"Eisel-san, huh?" A body leaned against the wall of the room, folding her arms and stared at what she thought would be her new teammate.
"YOU!" Sarah pointed angrily. She was rightly angry though, being punched and knocked out by a weird woman who also probably gave her those horrible images in her dreams!
"I heard pointing's rude in Japan." A voice spoke and entered the room. Sarah stared down at it and jumped back, screaming. "Screaming's just as rude." The being stared at her, rolling his dark yellow eyes momentarily. It was something weird looking, red-skinned and seemed to be comically covered below his waist with a strange looking kind of fire while his hair was put up into a high dark pony-tail. His ears were hooked and high with flouting yellow triangle earrings and two markings on his face gave a mystic feel about the strange being. The d'jinn continued to glare at the blonde, who jumped back after she finished screaming. Her inside voice was screaming though, angry and confused. The d'jinn then looked over to Haruhane and seemed to pull out a paper out of nowhere.
'Ehhhhhhh!?'
"Haruhane Eisel," the red-skinned thing started speaking in a serious almost business like tone, "I'm going to need you verify this information about you from above." The d'jinn handed the sheet of paper to the brunet still on the ground; said brunet took the paper and looked closely at the paper.
'Information? Above? What in the world is this guy talking about? Why isn't Eisel-san freaking out?' After all, normal people tended to freak out loudly when they saw something that wasn't normal and unexplainable. Sarah was certainly freaking out about it; after all, it was just plain crazy!
"It's all right, except I'm eighteen now." The brunet adult handed the paper back and the d'jinn took it, grumbling almost loudly,
"Is that so? Daniel must be playing with The Book again, I'll tell Peter later then." Why did Sarah find that those names were familiar? What was 'The Book' that this weird thing was talking about? The odd thing snapped and Sarah gasped as the paper in his hands disappeared and Sarah found herself covering her eyes soon as the d'jinn started to speak in a mystic manner, "Contract!"
Heaven mark one of thy servants with the gift of inner power
Mark a soul who has lost its path, a soul who hath decided to help.
Hear thee Heaven!
Mark the one who has signed!
Haruhane Eisel, new servant under the good boredom!

There seemed to be an abrupt silence that erupted across the large bedroom. When the blonde decided to be bold enough to open her eyes and uncover them, Sarah found herself staring over at Haruhane who was looking down at the ground, his body slumped down to the ground as possible, while looking down at the tan carpet. Abruptly it seemed, Ganego seemed to looked out the door to the bedroom and he muttered,
“D.J.-san, we have some trouble coming.”
“Go ahead with Izuru to keep them off; this guy needs to recover from signing the contract.” Ganego seemed to nod at this and moved to turn, where Izuru had already disappeared from the wall she was leaning on.
“Right, let’s get going then.”
“Hey, wait!” Sarah found herself complaining, moving to run after the two. As she found herself running outside the house, she immediately thought that they were really fast! Though, for the author to comment, Sarah was rather slow when it came to running, which was one of the reasons why she hated walking. They ran out into an alleyway that Sarah didn’t recognize, the dark-haired teen seemed to yell,
“Izuru, go right next turn!” However it seems as they reached the turn into the street, Izuru stopped to stare darkly at a woman on the left side of the walking street. The woman had dark long hair and was noticeably much more exotic then Izuru. Ganego stared at the dark-haired woman who seemed to smirk delightfully and muttered, “I guess I meant left. I’ve gotta get better at telling the difference between left and right.” Izuru didn’t let the comment faze her at all; in fact she jumped further into the street and took up a guarded position.
“Oooo, did I find a pretty? A fighting type are you? Silly pretty, though I admit, it’s nice to bump into a pretty after so long.” The woman seemed to twirl one of her earrings around as they hang lowly from her ears. Her voice was very much like a hiss and she seemed to smile in a very creepy way. As soon as she stopped speaking, she ripped the earring she was playing with and Ganego rapidly searched his uniform pockets, throwing up a strange device as the earring was thrown to the ground. A strange mist surrounded the area and Ganego yelled,
“D.J. field!” The mist formed into a solid shape and then the dark-haired teen spoke quickly, “Izuru, it’s a golem! Illusions won’t affect it; her power is animating snakish objects.” A bit abruptly, Ganego found himself pulled back by dark arms and light hands. He fell back due to the random force and fell into the lap of the foreigner who yelled shockingly,
“What the hell is that!?” Does no one listen to him the first time he ever speaks? Ganego was about to speak when the hissing woman seemed to scream,
“There’s an ugly here? KILL THE UGLY!” The snake golem immediately turned from attacking its main target from before and turned into looking into the alleyway where he saw what was ‘ugly’. Sarah closed her eyes and screamed but Ganego found himself slipping down a little further as he forced one leg up harshly to kick the golem’s head up. Ganego then forced himself to flip up with his legs and demanded of the foreigner,
“Hurry up and move to the end of the field! We’ll get rid of this golem!” However Ganego found himself surprised as the snake recovered quickly from the kick Ganego had delivered earlier and charged. The biggest reason Ganego had found himself surprised was because he wasn’t expecting teeth. On reflex Ganego found himself blocking the bite and had to bite down his own yell as blood started dripping down from the new bite. ‘How does this golem have teeth!?’ Most golems didn’t have teeth, they didn’t need them, and they were tough enough without teeth. Sarah didn’t help by screaming as she saw this.
Ganego found that he had to force himself to take big deep calm breaths as the golem started to try and gnaw through his skin and muscles, enjoying the blood that ran down its throat. Ganego took another deep breath and requested loudly, “Izuru! Please hurry! I can feel it trying to tear my arm off!” Thus it really was, it chewed harshly and Ganego never had felt his shoulder as much as he was now.
“Understood.” Izuru replied from the street-way and started to run towards the villain and Sarah found herself crying for the second time that day. Though she yelled as she saw Izuru pass them,
“What are you doing!? You need to help Shizuma-san!” However Izuru ignored the protest and did a straight strike, however the mysterious woman countered by pulling off her other earring and it formed out to become a large rod, deflecting Izuru’s attack. The woman seemed to sneer as Izuru was forced back from the abrupt appearance of the snake looking rod.
“Silly pretty, I know as long as you don’t connect, I won’t be knocked out.” She sneered again, this time adding a little chuckle. Ganego’s yells pierced the alley as there was a loud crunch, the golem finally getting bored of tenderizing its meat. Sarah found that she couldn’t stand it anymore and tackled the golem, hoping that she could at least get the mouth off of Ganego’s arm. However the tail of the snake simply moved and covered Sarah’s neck, easily forcing her into the air, hanging by its tight grip. Ganego found that the pain he had disappearing as pure panic flooded his system.
‘It can multi-task!?’ Golems could not multi-task. It was unheard of. Golems only did the one thing their master requested, and if they couldn’t do that, they did something else. But the snake golem should have been preoccupied with Ganego’s arm! It shouldn’t have been able to command its tail to start choking the blonde! Ganego found anger flooding quickly, “Izuru! Change of plans! Save the blonde!” Oh, he just noticed, he didn’t even know her name!
“…Understood.” Faithful as ever Izuru started to move towards the alley however the woman quickly rushed to be in the way, branding out her weird weapon. Izuru stared with a distinct distained look as the hiss escaped from the weird lady,
“No you don’t pretty!” Seeing that Izuru probably couldn’t get to them any time soon, Ganego took a course of action he should have earlier, and started punching the golem’s face as harshly and fast as possible. The golem seemed unaffected and Izuru charged, directly attacking the rod. The lady laughed and the snake let go of Sarah, letting her body fall, unknown if she was still alive or not. The snake lady laughed and licked at her rod, not seeing the blood that had dripped from Izuru’s hand unto the rod. “What was the point of doing that pretty?”
“Boom.” Shock passed through her eyes and she found herself screeching as a purple mass of energy surrounded her and flung itself right into Izuru’s right hand. There was a thud and Ganego was the one who had caused the sound. His right arm was completely covered with his own blood and with a loud sigh he spoke softly,
“D.J. field, drop.” A mist seemed to disappear from the area and Ganego found himself groaning as Izuru lifted her glove from her bleeding hand. Licking it slightly as Ganego stood up rather uselessly, rubbing his broken shoulder and shuddered inwardly about the blood covering him. “D.J.-san’s going to kill me!” He finally complained, realizing that Izuru had absorbed another person that day. “You had to absorb her?”
“I was too weak to deflect her rod and save you at the same time.” Izuru stated the matter of fact statement and Ganego found himself groaning again. Ganego then looked over at the blonde stranger and found himself breathing in a relieved manner, the blonde was still breathing, even if it looked a little weak. Ganego then turned and muttered in a sore mood,
“You might have to call Azreal-san when we get back to the hide-out.”
“Hai (4).” Izuru picked up the fallen blonde and followed after Ganego; unaware of the inner turmoil the blonde was going through. It was that horrible noise again; it echoed and annoyed her entire soul and being.
Because the truth is, we all need help being saved.

The noise stopped and she found herself looking into a dark area, and frowned slightly when she turned.
‘Is this another illusion? This is so strange…and is that grave shaped like a door?’ Many questions came to mind and it seemed to start raining in the very dark place. There was a large tombstone in the center and a very small child was standing in front of it, crying and sniffing. Sarah stared and she could swear that child was her,
Are you…finding the truth? You promised to find it.[/I]
‘Ungh!' The horrible noise was back and she wasn’t quite sure why, but it hurt more then usual. Sarah woke from her dream, breathing loudly and nervously. A voice from her side spoke and alerted her,
“Oh good! You’re alive!” There seemed to be someone leaning against a wall while Ganego was sitting on a strange chair with a slingshot cast around his right arm. The man she had never seen before had dark long hair that had something strange about it and wore a dark blue and when he turned to glare at Sarah his eyes were as dark as his uniform and seemed to comment,
“Good, it would’ve been troublesome to explain why some foreigner just died.”
“I-I’m glad you’re save Shizuma-san, and you seem okay.” Sarah forced herself to take the form of action that wouldn’t make her yell at the stranger. Her darker thoughts were wondering loudly who the hell this strange was and why the hell was he so rude! Sarah then stared closely at the strangely crafted cast, “Shizuma-san, that looks like it really hurts.”
“Oh you have no idea how much it hurts.” Ganego started to laugh and Sarah found herself staring darkly at the teenager who wasn’t exactly taking the situation seriously. What a crazy boy!
“…Shizuma-san…”
“Yo, Go, just shut up.” The stranger with long dark hair scolded the dark-haired teen and took out a cigarette and a lighter to go along with it, lighting up the smoke as he continued, “He’s upset enough with Izuru absorbing another person today, D.J. would not be happy about you talking to an outsider.” Ganego seemed to look down, looking quite sheepish and replied,
“You’re right. Thank you for the warning Azreal-san.” Sarah had finally learned the name of the very rude man and was slightly curious, as she was sure she had heard the name before somewhere but the situation at hand was much more important to her.
“Shizuma-san! What just happened to us just now?” However before she could flood the room with more questions she really wanted to ask, she found that she was slammed against the wall right by Azreal and he covered her mouth with a force that Sarah was surprised she could still breath.
“Ganego, I’d shut up. Otherwise…I might have to tell someone about your newest addition.” Ganego seemed to move from Azreal’s abrupt action and he seemed to flinch heavily because of the movement and spoke back,
“Don’t you already have to do that?”
“Oh no.” There seemed to be a very creepy silence to filter the room and Sarah watched as Azreal’s eyes turned darker and his voice turn deeper as well, very much like what one would think a demon would sound like, “I just have to heal someone from that side, but you know, if I hear any info, I just have to tell someone.”
“Back off Azreal.” The man immediately backed off and Sarah stared down to see the strange looking creature bent down and picked up the cigarette that dropped from Azreal’s mouth when he was speaking. Azreal seemed to smile though and D.J. growled in an un-accepting motion, “You dropped your smoke by the way.” Then with a complexly straight face he glared at the dark-haired taller being, “If you’re so worried about telling info, then get out of here before you learn anything.” Azreal picked the cigarette from D.J.’s hand and place it back in his mouth, still smiling.
“Polite as usual D.J.”
“Yeah, yeah! Now get out of here!” Azreal bowed to D.J. and walked out with no problem whatsoever. Sarah just found herself growing more and more confused and to follow into the room after Azreal was Sarah’s first crush.
“Eisel-san!” Sarah immediately started walking towards what she thought could be the only sane thing in the room when Ganego commented,
“Miss-”
“I’m Gesellé Sarah,” she immediately interrupted, not quite sure how she felt about being called miss. Ganego amended his sentence and continued,
“Gesellé-san, I wouldn’t get too near Haru-san right now.” The look Sarah must have been giving Ganego must have said it all because Ganego continued with a soft smile, “Because he might not be able to control his strength. Haru-san is a super strength boredom.”
“You mean like super-human strength?”
“Exactly.”
“Absorption points?”
“…I can’t see any points, can you?”
“Nope…so I guess that means I don’t have to worry about him.” Sarah joined Haruhane into staring dully at the conversing creature and teenager. Sarah then coughed and interrupted,
“Excuse me, can I ask questions now?” Getting the gist that earlier she couldn’t because apparently that Azreal guy doesn’t like questions being asked or something into that similar line of meaning. D.J. flouted close up to her face and stared deeply into her blue eyes,
“You sure you want the answers?” Sarah jumped back, there seemed to be a deep silence from Sarah’s fear of the red-skinned magical being. However, luckily, Ganego seemed to get the idea that the silence wouldn’t stop until someone spoke so he did.
“So what kind of questions do you want to ask?” The blonde took a deep breath and started.
“What is this business with absorption?”
“Nearly every boredom person has points of absorption on their body. When a boredom beat another they can absorb their bodies to gain more power the next day.”
“So was that lady a boredom then?” Sarah thought about the creepy lady from earlier. Ganego nodded to that question, so the blonde teen continued, “Who was that guy earlier?”
“That was Azreal-san; he’s someone we call when we’re desperate.”
“…What did he mean he had to heal someone from that side?” Somehow, she could feel the emphasis on that word.
“Azreal-san is someone who when he does something for either side, he had to do something equal to the other side.” While it didn’t make sense why, Sarah could accept that, some people were strange like that. So one final question.
“What is that?” She harshly commented, pointing at ‘that’.
“DON’T CALL ME THAT!”
“D.J.-san,” Ganego seemed to smile and try not to laugh at the same time, “he’s a d’jinn, he our contact to Heaven.” Whatever THAT meant. The inquiries blonde was of course going to ask more questions but Haruhane interrupted rather randomly.
“What time is it?”
“16:00 (5), why?”
“We have to be heading home now.” Haruhane turned and left the room with ease, as though he hadn’t encountered something that changed the very meaning of his entire life. Sarah looked at Ganego then back to where Haruhane had escaped desperately then shook her head and followed the brunet, yelling out,
“Wait! Eisel-san! We can’t just go without more answers!” The door to the ‘hide-out’ closed and the two left visible stared after the closed door.
“We should erase her memory soon.” D.J. seemed to remark but Ganego just found himself smiling cheerfully.
“I dunno…I think there’s a reason why she was here with Haru-san today.” ‘After all…how many girl’s who’s completely confused on a situation would try and do something, even if she doesn’t know if it could kill her or not?’ D.J. seemed to glare at Ganego, as though knowing what he was thinking and shook his head, giving a loud sigh.

--..--..--..--..--..
The Next Day
--..--..--..--..--..
The heroine woke up, the sleepiest she had ever been. The girl moved to look into a mirror that had been in her room and plucked at her eyes to stare at the dark-holes that glared back. Oh was she sleepy, she was really, really grateful that it was Sunday (6). The blonde then turned in her room and stared at the wide-open spaces that had been there, wide-open spaces she was not used to at all.
‘Oh…my God. It wasn’t a crazy airplane dream.’ That was what she honestly thought it was, after all, she wasn’t exactly used to flying planes, nor was she used to the time-zone difference between the U.S.A. and Japan. However she slapped herself, no, maybe she knocked herself out when the limo had stopped. Everything after that could have been a dream. There was then a knock and entered in a young woman who smiled lightly from her maid uniform.
Saya Minabushi was her name; Sarah had met her last night. She was one of the head maids of the Eisel family household. But wait! They had met each other when Sarah had walked home with Haruhane! Does that mean the part with Ganego wasn’t a dream!? Was that possible? Her brain complained to her quickly, saying it was way too early to be thinking too much about this stuff. Saya seemed confused by Sarah’s actions as she moved to get dressed and get ready for the rest of the day.
Soon they were roaming the elite halls of the Eisel family home, well…more like mansion. Sarah was on the second floor and all together there were three floors, fourteen bathrooms, thirty rooms, one address room and maybe even more useless rooms that Sarah had no clue about. Either way, she didn’t really care, but it really was a huge home. “Man this is awkward.”
“What is?”
“I’ve never been in such expensive clothes before.” She had randomly picked something out of the closet, and the instant she felt it against her skin, she knew it had to be expensive for the sheer fact that it was made out of a material she had never felt in her entire life. “I mean, doesn’t it ever feel weird to be in those maid clothes?” Saya shook her head and replied with a soft voice,
“I come from a family that loved to dress up, so it’s never felt odd.” What odd bit of information, oh well. While she kept moving she felt something was off, so she asked,
“Where are we going?”
“To meet Eisel-sama.” …Eisel…sama? Sama…not san…as in master of the household sama? Sarah found herself walking strangely and Saya clapped in awe, “You’re walking in synch! Amazing what Americans can do!” Sarah found her mind screeching and her entire body frozen.
‘Eisel-san’s father…Will he be as cold as Eisel-san? I-I-I’ll have to make a good impression or…or he’ll kick me out and send me back home!' It was that moment when the blonde realized something, ‘I’M DOOMED[/I]’ While the head maid was confused by the strange American’s behavior, she dragged her down to the dining room. A large table lay in front of them with many velvet chairs and a chandelier up ahead. A corrupted laugh erupted from the blonde’s mouth, ‘Maybe I was wrong. If he can’t hear me, I can’t even make a bad impression!’
“Father won’t be joining us this morning.” The blonde jumped. Another time Haruhane had surprised her. As she jumped away, Haruhane went up to Saya who seemed to pout sadly and question the reason behind the absence of Haruhane’s father.
‘Why isn’t Eisel-san wearing fancy clothes like me? In fact…it’s like he’s going out today…’ A different scarf was around his neck and he was still speaking. The brunet then turned over to the weird blonde,
“Are you ready?”
“Eh?”
“You wanted to ask Go-chan questions, didn’t you?” …
‘Go? Go-chan?...LAST NIGHT WAS REAL!?’ Meanwhile, Saya was blinking, thinking something completely different about the name ‘Go-chan’.
‘Go-chan? D…does this mean that…OH MASTER! I’m so happy for you! Your son has finally found himself a girlfriend!’
“We’re off.” Haruhane spoke, not knowing he wasn’t interrupting a weird fancy dream that Saya had on whoever had captured her master’s son interest. Shame that wasn’t actually true and Go was indeed not female. Sarah dutifully followed after the brunet and stared as Haruhane had managed to escort them back to the hideout.
“Wow Eisel-san, you remembered where this place was?” She was impressed. She knew for a fact she wouldn’t know. Haruhane turned a bit however as there seemed to be a little noise and Sarah found herself glaring as Izuru emerged from the shadows.
“So you actually came back?”
“Izuru-san? Good morning.”
“Morning. I just got back from training; I was about to head inside and take a shower.” Haruhane seemed to nod at this and of course Sarah couldn’t help but think that Izuru was very…blunt. Izuru opened the door and entered, letting the two behind her follow and Ganego seemed to beam.
“Great! You came back!”
“Why wouldn’t we?”
“Shizuma-san! Your cast is off!” While she was happy about this, it was also very strange. Didn’t she see some kind of weird thing almost gnaw it completely off, or was that part a dream?
“Well yeah, Azreal-san is a real good healer after all.” Oh. Well…Sarah supposed that made sense. Kinda.
“A-Anyway, you seem surprised we’re here.”
“Well that’s because for most boredom people, even the good ones, they tend to be alone. After all, people cramp their style.” What a sad sentence. However, she wouldn’t let that happen! Whatever this was, Haruhane would in no way be alone!”
“Well whatever this boredom thing is, Eisel-san won’t do it alone!” Sarah voiced out her thoughts. Haruhane seemed to stare dully down at her with his new spectacles and Sarah blushed, “What!? Don’t look at me like that!” Ganego felt his heartbeat, he felt his breathe still and his face was covered with a smile he hadn’t felt on his face in a really long time.
“Okay then.”
“?”
“If you really want to know, then I guess I can tell you everything you really need to know.” ‘It’s weird…I can’t help but smile. Does…does this mean a bad joke can finally end? Can someone finally have the courage to tell them that it’s all a bad joke?’ Ganego led the blonde by her hand to a round table with only two chairs around it and led her to sit in one and he took the other. Sarah leaned in, listening intently, looking extremely determined to understand everything.
‘Can…a bad joke ever really stop though? Can anyone really have the guys to tell Him and Lucifer that it’s all a terrible joke? Then again…what is funny to those of the after-life? What is laughter and happiness to them?
Can’t a joke just simply be stopped by stopping the laughter?’
Chapter I. Notes (1) Megane[/I]: A Japanese word that describes a character that wears glasses (2) D’jinn[/I]: A type of genie, the only difference between this type of genie and regular genies is this genie has more magic to cast more spells (at least in this story). (3) Bold[/I]: Ganego is bold at this point because not many Japanese people call each other by their first name, nor do they ask to be called by a certain nick-name right away. (4) Hai: Japanese word for Yes (5) 16:00[/I]: Military time for 4:00 PM. A common way of telling time in Japan. (6) Sunday[/I]: School in Japan is Monday to Saturday, so Sunday is the only break day.

Chapter II. Dreaded Dress
"Thoughts lead on to purposes; purposes go forth in action; actions form habits; habits decide character; and character fixes our destiny." -Tyron Edwards
---...---...---...---...---...---...---...---
‘Oh my God.’ Was just the simple thought from one Sarah Gesellé, sixteen-year-old American foreigner and two days ago, she had bumped into something that was beyond her understanding. Sarah recalled then back to the conversation she had with one Ganego Shizuma yesterday on Sunday. She had asked what exactly boredom was and Ganego answered simply as this,
“It’s basically what happened when God noticed that the lives human lived were losing meaning.”
“You said something about the dark side getting wind of it or something like that.”
“…” Ganego had hesitated a little on commenting on this question but he eventually answered, “Yeah, that’s when the contracts came up. It ended up turning into a competition between God and the Devil because with every contract signed, the more souls gained for either side.” Sarah had at the time laughed and raised an eyebrow at the answer,
“Are you serious? So you mean like that cliché of signing your soul away to the devil is real?” Ganego seemed to laugh at this a little, as though he had never connected that idea to this very real scary position.
“When you say it like that…” All of that was what she had basically stumbled upon. The most alarming thing was that her host brother, Haruhane Eisel, had signed one of those contracts! At least he signed a good contract though, from what Sarah got from her many questions. Sarah continued thinking harder about the whole deal with boredom, not exactly sure what to think, in fact she was sure she passed the council lady while in her deep thought. “Good morning Gesellé-san!” Hm, she could’ve sworn she just heard Ganego’s voice…wait…
“Shizuma-san!” She jumped up in shock, though Ganego had other thoughts about her surprise.
“Go-chan.”
“Shizuma-san,” Ganego seemed to pout as she continued to call him by his formal last night, “What are you doing here? Do you go here?” Ganego started to laugh and he laughed pretty hard.
“Don’t be silly, I go to the middle school (1) next door.” He gestured his head to where he was talking about and Sarah saw a building that didn’t seem that faraway from her own high school. It then hit her hard and fast. Middle school!?
“Shi-”
“Go-chan.”
“zuma-san, how old are you?” She asked intently, placing one hand harshly on the boy’s shoulder. The teen blinked and answered with a slight to his head,
“Thirteen.” Sarah felt a part of her break deep inside. Inside she screamed the loudest she could without actually saying anything. She cried out to the world’s core and to anyone who could read her thoughts,
‘DAMN YOU JAPAN! For once in my life I thought I’d be taller then someone!’ Her short complex made her very ugly sometimes, especially since it was just extremely ironic that a thirteen-year-old Japanese boy was taller then her by one inch exactly. The blonde had never felt as sad as she had, she could understand Haruhane and that weird Izuru being taller then her, but…Ganego? Sarah then recomposed herself as she realized something, “Wait a minute, should you really be in school? With all the bad boredom people around?”
“Just because Izuru skipped on her education doesn’t mean I have to follow her example.” Ganego seemed a little irritated by that question, as though Sarah had just insulted his intelligence. Sarah gave a sigh and held her head for a moment, hearing the bell of Asagi High ring.
Meanwhile there was a sudden slam to a poor punch bag. It lurched heavily to the side and fell back at a speed that was part of an overwhelming strength. Immediately the poor punch bag had started to lurch inside itself as a full combination of fist of flurries punched the bag what would’ve been considered as a stomach if it held such contents. The attacker paused, taking light breaths and so the bag thought it was safe, however that point was proven wrong as the sand inside exploded and all that was left was the top of the punch bag, hanging up high with a saddened realization that it was no doubt ‘dead’.
“Holy crap Izuru!” The d’jinn made his way in the room, staring at the very beaten up punch bag and sand all over the carpet. D.J. grabbed the dirt and commented to her directly, “You’re definitely getting stronger, this sand’s from a friend of mine. He said it’d be impossible to give it the illusion of ‘being’ real.” Izuru just stared for a second and nodded at this, lifting her hand into the air watching as the purple energy seemed to surround it for a moment. At that moment, the phone decided to ring and try as the d’jinn tried, he couldn’t get to the phone in time to answer it (not that he could, he couldn’t quite understand human’s ways of wiring the lines that allowed communications). Ganego’s voice rang out from the message machine,
“Hey, it’s Ganego; could you send Izu-chan over? I think there’s some kind of boredom on the prowl here.” D.J. felt a mild form of irritation build at the temple of his forehead and quickly started to yell,
“Izuru don’t-“ BAM, the loud sound of the door echoed the household, “Damn it.” While that had been going on, Sarah had been thinking more about the boredom thing. It was then she noticed something crucial, but she wasn’t quite sure what it was that she noticed.
“What are you working on Gesellé-san?” A student on her side asked curiously and Sarah found herself ‘eeping’, covering the piece of paper she had doodled all over in English and with weird little pictures to represent the people she had met at the moment that had anything to do with the connection with boredom. Sarah looked over at the student who seemed to laugh nervously, “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you. I’m Tonomi Satoshi.” He was like any other Japanese student, dark hair (that went to his shoulder though, that wasn’t that normal for males) and light brown eyes with his uniform. As rude as Sarah hated to be, she gave a piercing stare to the teen,
“No offence Tonomi-san, but shouldn’t you be paying attention to the teacher?” Tonomi seemed to jump at this and Sarah found herself rolling her eyes inside. The lesson at the moment going on was English, and Sarah only really had only one talent when it came to school work (especially Japanese school work) and that was languages. She had been born and raised in America and was taught how different schools teach different things, so she didn’t really need to pay attention to the teacher at the moment.
“Oh…sorry.” Sarah nodded to herself, satisfied as Satoshi went back to paying attention to the English teacher like she had suggested. Sarah stared over the details a little more and thought how silly this whole thing was. There was no way that this really was really real. Obviously Izuru was some kind of freak with weird mutant powers or something. There was no way that Haruhane had any ‘super-strength’, after all, he seemed pretty normal all throughout Sunday. Also why did someone have to lose his or her personality just to get a power? It was so stupid.
“Gesellé-san, you seem to be concentrating pretty hard up there, tell me what the use of this word in this paragraph is then.” Sarah stood up immediately after being directed at and proceeded to do as she was asked, not knowing she was getting an odd look from the person on her side.

--..--..--..--..--..
After School
--..--..--..--..--..
The blonde slowly made her way outside the school gates. She felt her entire mind burning with displeasure and frustration. The reason her mind was in such turmoil was quite simple. History. More specifically, Japanese History. Sarah’s worse subject was and forever would be until she died and was free from it, would always be History. The worse thing about it was that she already had a test coming up soon! That and she would need a bigger bag for all of the books she was going to need! Auuuugh, how troublesome! The teen then blinked, noticing a familiar figurine leaning against a wall though…her coat wasn’t zipped up all the way and it showed part of the woman’s bra.
“Izuru-san, what are you doing here? And in such…inappropriate clothing.” Izuru seemed to blink and turned, thinking for a second who was addressing her. However she nodded and replied,
“Gesellé,” a nod here, “Go-chan asked me to come by; he thinks there’s a boredom nearby.” At this Izuru started to zip up her coat, seeing that Sarah was uncomfortable with someone so confident about their body. Though she didn’t know was that Izuru didn’t really notice she forgot to zip her zipper all the way and wasn’t ashamed by it at all.
“Oh? Is that so? I guess I should get going then.”
“Probably.”
“Give my regards to Shizuma-san, okay?”
“Understood.” Izuru replied and Sarah moved past the taller woman, however at that moment, the earth decided to open up into a large hole. Sarah stared down at the ground with complete shock, screaming as they dived under the hole and further into the ground, Izuru landed on the ground in a trained profession while Sarah landed face-first. Darkness covered both of the two quickly as the hole that was created shut itself.
“W-What happened? It’s pitch dark!” The blonde noticed, smelling the air that seemed to be a thick dirty smell and she found herself confused about what exactly happened. Did the earth seriously open up and swallow both she and Izuru?
“I assume it’s the work of that boredom Go-chan was talking about.” It was really weird to hear ‘Go-chan’ from her mouth but Sarah ignored that oddity and felt her heart jump into her throat. What? What!?
“How? I mean…we’re underground!”
“It’s more then likely it’s some sort of earth manipulation.” Izuru replied back, looking in the direction of the distressed blonde.
“H-How are we going to get out?” Izuru didn’t have an answer for that and the blonde found herself panicking even more. First of all, she didn’t want to be stuck underground. Second of all, she never wanted to be alone with this woman, she did not like Izuru at all. Sarah was still bitter about being punched in the stomach and being confronted by those horrible evil illusions that she played mind tricks on her. Thirdly, she didn’t want to be stuck underground WITH Izuru at all. Izuru seemed to sigh for a moment and Sarah blinked rapidly as light appeared all around the two. “Oh! Look! The light! And a tunnel! We can probably escape now!”
The blonde immediately ran down said tunnel, not really realizing Izuru looking back up to where they fell from. The teen then commented, “Let’s go find this guy, kick his butt, then get out of here! Come on Izuru-san!” The tunnel was huge Sarah noticed, as she continued moving and Izuru seemed to follow after her in a slow annoying pace. While they walked down the long tunnel, Sarah found herself looking up in a little confusion. She could swear… “Music?” The question filtered in the air and Izuru questioned lightly,
“Can you understand it?” The blonde blinked once and closed her eyes in concentration,
“Hold...on…” The blonde then shook her head lightly, “I can’t hear the rest of it.” There was a moment of silence and the only sound that seemed to make it through the air was the light steps on the dirt. However Izuru finally asked the very solid question that made Sarah blink a bit,
“Do you recognize it at all?” Because the lyrics were in English, Sarah had to do a direct translation that would seem strange normally. Sarah shook her head once and brushed her hair back,
“Afraid not, I don’t really listen to music that often. I might listen to the radio sometimes though.” Almost as though there tunnel wanted a change of subject there was an abrupt door opening and Sarah stared blankly as she stared at the room. Clothes littered the room, hanging from hangers and metal rods. Sarah couldn’t help but feel a little excited. “Look at all of these clothes! Izuru-san! Let’s take a break, please?”
“…Okay…” The brunette didn’t seem to have a problem with Sarah’s interruption of their journey and fell to the ground near the door, taking a sitting position. The blonde immediately moved and picked out a beautiful looking blouse and placed it over her uniform, surprised how easily it fit over her without any extra discomfort.
“What do you think Izuru-san?” The teen asked, momentarily forgetting she held a grudge over the brunette female. The woman looked up from her resting spot and seemed to shrugged,
“It looks okay.” Irritation filtered through her brain and a weird knowledge of ‘That’s probably what Eisel-san would say too’ came, but she couldn’t help but feel extremely irritated with the Japanese woman. The girl then heaved a sigh and took off the blouse asking the simple question,
“Why do you think there are so many clothes underground here?”
“Who knows?”
‘GOD SHE’S IMPOSSIBLE TO TALK TO!’ Sarah angrily yelled in her head, ‘I can’t even hold a conversation with her, she’s so annoying!’ However after ranting in her head the teen seemed to take a look at Izuru a little longer and oddly noticed, ‘Strange…she seems tired…’ As such Izuru had her head on her lap, her eyes closed and she took awhile to breathe. Of course our heroines were not missing without anyone noticing. Ganego Shizuma rubbed the back of head and looked up into the skies for a moment,
“I can’t sense Izu-chan anyway…I don’t think I saw Gesellé-san leave either.” The dark-haired student looked around again and groaned to himself, flipping open his cell-phone groaning to himself again. “I don’t even have Eisel-san’s number just incase something happens.” There seemed to be a scented silence in the air before he looked around with a little alarm, noticing there were more then he wanted to sense. The idea then hit him cheerfully and he started to head towards the High School.

“Tanaka InCo…weird name for a label.” The teen noticed, looking at the blouse she had removed from her body. “Must be a Japanese original, nothing like a Calvin Klein or something like that.” Izuru looked up from her restful nature and looked over at Sarah with a blank look of what could’ve been interest.
“You know designers?” Sarah jumped at Izuru’s abrupt voice and she felt herself smile. Heh, she got the other girl to talk!
“Weeeelll, I know of them, but I’ve always been way to poor to afford any of them!” She seemed to be awfully proud of herself for this accomplishment that over half of the population of the United States had also performed. Izuru seemed to look away, a soft look on her face,
“Really…” Whoa…did she smile? Did she seriously smile? What a shocking thing! It made her face look entirely different, even if it was just a little smile! Sarah forced a grin and replied,
“You know, Izuru-san would look nicer and prettier if she smiled more often.” ‘Probably act nicer too.’ Came the bitter after-thought from the forced grin. Izuru looked back up, giving the teen a clearly stumped look on her face,
“Huh?” Did the brunette not know she was smiling? That was really sad if she blonde really thought about it. Sick and tired of the clothes already, Sarah twisted around to see the next doorway leading down a new tunnel.
“Anyway, let’s go ahead and get moving again. I don’t want to start running out of air.” Izuru seemed to pause at this sentence, which Sarah didn’t really notice because that’s what Izuru seemed to intend to do when it came to talking to other people. Just answer slowly or not at all.
“Okay.”
SLAM[/I]
“What do you mean you don’t give out the Eisel family number?” The attendant at the office stared dully at Ganego with her square spectacles with a ‘You’re not quite sane’ look then shook her head once, the bun in her head shaking along with it.
“Are you really serious? You’re not even a high school student; it’s against our policy to give out private information.” The attendant lady then turned with a small stack of papers and left the desk, leaving Ganego to pale. Oh crap. D.J. was going to kill him…because he lost Izuru. Meanwhile the girls continued down the tunnel, Sarah continued to mull over how quiet it was down underground. Well the bright sight, she supposed, was that she wasn’t alone. Though that horrible evil ugly sound of a buzz was completely in the air. There was a crush and a hole was made overhead, right behind Izuru. The brunette turned for a second to stare at the stranger. “Yo.” Said stranger said, immediately Izuru threw a backhanded fist, which the stranger blocked, but was surprised when a mass of purple energy surrounded him and drifted his entire body into Izuru’s fist. The brunette breathed out uneasily as Sarah noticed it got a little darker around for some weird reason.
“W-Was that the guy who trapped us down here?”
“…I don’t think so.” The adult admitted, breathing a little uneasily again.
“Izuru-san…are you okay?”
“Does it look like something’s wrong?” She asked, genuinely confused. Sarah almost felt a giggle come from her mouth, when she realized how sad the question was.
“Uh…no. I guess not…but…” she hesitated for a moment, looking down, “Do you fight these guys all the time?”
“…Of course.” Well…then it made sense…The blonde supposed. It made sense why Izuru was like this, why she was hesitant to speak at all, why she was incredibly tough and why she answered things often with violence. If Sarah had to deal with this kind of life situation like this, she’d probably be in a similar mode as Izuru. She wasn’t a jerk…she was just made to be hardheaded. At her thoughts though, Sarah found herself collapsing to the ground, taking a deep breath.
“Is it me, or is it starting to get harder to breathe? I mean…it’s not as bad as I thought it would be but…”
“So you need another break?” It hadn’t even been that long since they took their last break. However the blonde nodded and spoke softly,
“Yeah…did that guy make a hole that we would be able to climb out?” Izuru took a seat on the ground and looked back to where the hole had been a few moments before and shook her head visibly,
“Afraid not. I believe the earth manipulator closed it.” The blonde couldn’t help but think of how unfair this whole situation was. Why would this guy just come and randomly attack them? It made no sense! Sarah then fell back, feeling better on her back, sighing loudly.
“Izuru-san, would you be able to tell why you signed a contract?” She didn’t believe in it, after all, who had ever heard of signing a contract with the Devil or God? Just because you lost your personality? There’s just no way!
“Because I was offered.” The teen hit her head on the dirt once as the words Izuru offered impacted her skull.
“No…I mean why would you need to in the first place?” There was quite a bit of hesitance after this sentence and Izuru truthfully answered,
“Who knows?”
“Uncomfortable subject?”
“Probably…” The way she spoke was like she wasn’t even sure if she had been through a life changing experience or not. This really made Sarah doubt the contract thing even more now.
‘Boredom only happens when someone loses their personality. It only became contracts because the ‘dark side’ found out God was giving people power and the ‘dark side’ ‘copied’ God…so it’s just like a battle between good and evil?’ Anger came from thinking of that sort of subjects. Like that made ANY sense at all! Even back in the days of the Bible, there weren’t super beings around because they supposedly ‘lost’ their personality! If it really were true, there’d be a load of boredom people around! There…there was just no way! It wasn’t possible!
“As long as you’re alive, and you’re human. You’ll always be able to feel. Humans have a way or reason about them that tells them to feel. To have emotions, and blame everything on their own emotions. That’s just what makes us human.” Her sensei. A kind looking man with dyed blonde hair and an incredibly young boyish look about him. “Because we’re human, we should be able to enjoy living…and if you don’t then find a way. Bond with the others who share that feeling. It’s life after all.” Those words a long time ago had moved her, she remembered it well. It was strange she was remembering those words at the moment…Sarah then heaved herself up and sighed, she was sure though, her sensei wouldn’t believe any of this.

“Let’s go ahead and get moving again.” Meanwhile at an old phone booth Ganego flipped through many pages, staring at the numbers and last names, thanking God that there was only one Eisel family in the Matsuhara district. Ganego flipped his cell-phone again and dialed the number on the sheet, freezing as a female voice answered cheerfully,
“Hello?” Ganego immediately shut the call off, twitching in embarrassment. That definitely wasn’t Haruhane’s voice! Saya, the maid who had answered the phone blinked and immediately started to assume the best of scenarios. “Awww, that was probably ‘Go-chan’,” she said, not knowing how right she was, “she must have been so embarrassed calling Eisel-san at home by home phone! She must have been expecting him to answer!” The maid swung around and stars seemed to dance with her, “I’m so happy for Eisel-san!”
Immediately the dark-haired maid ran to Haruhane’s computer room, where he worked on a lot of important work for his father and a bunch of other companies that Haruhane’s father had association with. “Eisel-san!” She opened the door and Haruhane didn’t even bother looking up from the many pages of numbers in front of him, while typing out a massive amount of numbers. “Go-chan called! I bet she wanted a date! She’s a shy thing, isn’t she?” Haruhane did however look up at this; a blank look of mild confusion was on his face for a moment. However the man simply nodded and replied,
“Thank you.”
“You better call her back soon!” The ignorant maid seemed to have flowers and rainbows behind her smile but Haruhane continued on working on the report he was sure his father would need later. The story, of course, continued with Sarah and Izuru still walking through the tunnel. The blonde felt herself growing sick and tired of the silence and the annoying buzz so she decided she would like to rant. The blonde turned her head to see Izuru, and the brunette seemed a little confused on the sudden movement,
“Izuru-san, do you usually deal with such sick and twisted people to fight with every day?”
“…What do you mean?” She tilted her head, not sure what Sarah was talking about. The blonde moved her hands about actively in a very irritated motion,
“I mean this guy who put us down here!” She yelled at the ceiling as though the ‘guy’ would hear them from down there, “Only a twisted individual could have the guts to put someone else down in a place like this to suffer slowly.” Sarah twisted on her heel, moving her body in an active temper tantrum and continued, “Then there’s the annoying little fact that there’s this HUGE tunnel.” She pointed at it. “It gives us the illusion of hope, making our death SO much more fun to watch!” The brunette stared, as though in a little bit of shock.
“How would you know something like that?” A smile flouted over the blonde’s face, and she chirped cheerfully,
“I’m training to become a therapist! I need to know these kind of things!” However at the subject she had started, it was then she began to connect a load of things all together. Irritation filtered through her mind again and she asked genuinely, “But…either way. All of these are classic signs of a form of emotions…Izuru-san; I thought boredom people were supposed to be emotionless.” Why was she just noticing it now? All of the people Izuru fought seemed to have one form of emotion or another. The snake lady had that weird kind of ‘pretty’ thing going on with her and everybody else seemed to have light in their eyes when they fought. So…what was it?
“Go-chan would be able to tell you more.” However it seems that Sarah wasn’t going to get any answers any time soon. The blonde gave a loud sigh in aggravation then noticed a little detail,
“That’s another thing I’ve noticed.” She said, as though she had been thinking about this part of the subject for a long time, “Shizuma-san obviously has a personality, so how did he get involved with this whole boredom thing? Did he sign a contract?”
“Why would he?” Izuru looked at her hands for a moment, folding them in an un-natural way, “Go-chan has no potential to sign one, or so I’ve been told.”
“Oh.” The girl then got the strange feeling that Izuru was holding something back, though what it could’ve been about, Sarah had no idea whatsoever. The blonde then turned around and continued their journey ahead. Half-an-hour passed when a voice that could pierce the clouds in Heaven rang around a certain hide-out,
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST[/I] IZURU!?” What could he mean, well…what else? However Ganego get his stare down to the ground and scratched the back of his head extremely nervously.
“What’s the screaming out?” Ganego jumped at the voice that appeared from behind him and turned to see Haruhane. The teen launched himself on the brunet, confusing said brunet and he cried out,
“Haaarrrruuuu-chaaaan!”
“What are you doing here Haruhane?” D.J. blinked, surprised that the brunet had showed up out of basically nowhere.
“A housemaid spoke of a ‘Go-chan’, I only know one person who goes by the alias of ‘Go-chan’.” There was a little side conversation of Haruhane trying to convince Ganego to let go of him but the dark-haired boy refused, “So what’s the problem?”
“This little idiot,” D.J. angrily gestured at the dark-haired boy, “lost Izuru, and he said he thinks he sensed a boredom at Asagi High School.”
“Well is there any way to find her?”
“I’ll need my goggles.” Ganego answered that question, finally letting go of the brunet, turning to go into his room to gain the item. However before he completely made it into the room, D.J. flashed a little bolt to the boy’s sensitive area, making Ganego jump in pain.
“You’re lucky I’m letting you still use them!” A sob almost escaped from the teen from how much the little bolt hurt. Ganego quickly entered his bedroom then exited, showing up with a pair of goggles that encompassed his entire top half of his face, placing them over his eyes.
“These goggles amplify my sensory powers; they were made by D.J.-san.” Ganego explained to Haruhane once they exited out of the hideout. Haruhane bluntly replied,
“I’m not the least bit curious how they work.” The receiver of the blunt comment looked down, a little depressed that he wasn’t interesting. However a little bit of concentration later, Ganego pointed in the direction they would have to walk to find Izuru. Ganego led the both of them all the way back to Asagi High and pointed down into the dirt. “Haru-chan, please punch a hole here please.”
“…Would that be wise?”
“What do you mean?” Ganego looked up, looking completely ridiculous with the goggles still covering his face. Haruhane seemed to sigh at answering this but did as asked,
“The dirt would collapse and smother Izuru-san.” A moment passed by as Ganego stared blankly at the point that Haruhane had made, and to amend quickly for his stupidity, Ganego turned and pointed at the ground ahead of his feet.
“Then punch here and we’ll burrow ourselves there!” The unaware heroines continued to walk down the large tunnel, when Sarah started to think that the tunnel could possibly not have and end that could escape to the top at all. At a whim, the blonde looked back to looked over to her comrade and found herself shocked for a moment.
“Izuru-san!”
“Is something wrong?”
“Izuru-san! You’re really red! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“No way! You’re short of breath!” Sarah noticed the brunette breathing extremely slow and hard.
“It’s fine. I’m sure it’ll be okay.” Surprisingly, Izuru collapsed to the ground, forcing herself back up with her upper strength, breathing in a difficult manner.

“Why are you having so much trouble breathing?” The blonde bent to the ground to get closer to the other woman, “Are you claustrophobic? Or…or maybe you have asthma?” The thought terrified her, if Izuru didn’t get some air soon, she could die! The blonde then jumped and instinctively covered the person in front of her as patches of dirt flew by her head and around her entire body. She looked up immediately, fearful that the boredom had finally came by to finish them off but was pleasantly surprised, “Eisel-san!”
“Gesellé-san? What are you doing here?” Ganego questioned while Haruhane didn’t even seemed fazed to see the blonde underground with Izuru. The blonde then quickly shook her head and panicked a bit,
“It doesn’t matter right now! Something’s wrong with Izuru-san!” Sarah then noticed that it got incredibly much darker. How was that possible? Then as though she thought the magic words it turned completely dark. Ganego’s voice rang out in the darkness, grunting,
“Figures. Haru-san, pick up Izu-chan and jump through the dirt. Izu-chan, don’t you dare cast another illusion.” Haruhane did as he was told, not seeming to have any problem navigating through the darkness and picking up the fainted brunette. Haruhane jumped high and Sarah had to guard her eyes from the abrupt light that had appeared from his ability to jump through the air.
“Shizuma-san…”
“Oh! Gesellé-san!” Ganego turned to face her but the door above closed, turning everything dark once again. Ganego’s voice rang through the darkness, “Tch, this guy’s really impatient.” The blonde felt her body fall to the ground a bit, breathing a little nervously at the pure darkness around her. She couldn’t even see her hand!
“Shizuma-san…I’m afraid.” She admitted, as she shook a little, feeling the dirt all around her nervously.
“R-Really?” He sounded even more nervous then she did, “Is there anything that I can do for you? Like do I need to calm you down or something?” Hah…he really was nervous. Though it was more like he was nervous of talking to her more then potentially being trapped underground for a long time.
“No, I just think it’s too dark in here, that’s all.” The blonde smiled to herself, laughing inwardly. It was funny after all; this teenager was more scared then her then this life-threatening situation.
“Well don’t worry,” he said, sounding completely reassuring, as though he was glad he didn’t have to do anything to comfort her, “Haru-san will be back down here soon to get us, so there’s no need to be afraid of the dark!” Hah…it was just so weird. At that, she reminded herself of something even weirder. Sarah looked up to what could’ve been the direction Ganego’s voice came from,
“What did you mean by Izuru-san and not casting ‘another’ illusion?”
“You didn’t…oh, of course you wouldn’t know.” There was a light sound of shuffling in the background; Ganego must have been moving for a second, as though getting out of the way, “Izu-chan’s power is to cast illusions. So…you didn’t really believe you were running out of air or you were in the dark in reality.”
“What?”
“Like I said, it’s her power to be able to create illusions. If she hasn’t absorbed anybody throughout the entire day, she’s powerful enough to fool the mind, which in return, controls the body’s reaction to certain situations.” Ganego’s voice sounded awfully soft, as though he had been proud of a daughter.
“W-Why didn’t she just fool herself? She sounded like she could’ve died!” Was it really possible that Sarah was really running out of air and had really been stumbling around in the dark the entire time in reality? Was it true that she fell under an illusion cast by Izuru’s hands?
“Izuru’s not powerful enough yet to fool her own mind, especially since she knows the illusions aren’t real.” Sympathy flooded Sarah’s face, even if it wasn’t visible.
“Why…why didn’t I notice it?”
“You had no reason to believe it wasn’t real, so you let yourself be fooled.” Ganego explained easily, as though he had fallen for the same trick many a time. There was a loud crash and abrupt damaging light surrounding from the hole that Haruhane made jumping back into the coffin. “Oh good! Haru-san, take Gesellé-san.” Sarah stood up and walked over to Haruhane, looking back for a second, blushing.
“Go-chan, what about you?” Ganego seemed stunned for a second but then he gave a sincere smile,
“Heh…you called me Go-chan.” He teased first and Sarah felt embarrassment flood her face as she realized the same thing, “Dun’ worry though, Haru-san will come get me too.” Haruhane then gathered Sarah in his arms and jumped through the dirt, landing on the ground and jumping to the school’s foundation, placing the younger blonde on the steps. Haruhane though then jumped back as a hole collapsed underneath him and every time he jumped back to the ground another hole would appear.
“Eisel-san!” The girl yelled at, concerned about the brunet’s well being. Almost as a reflex she started to look around, knowing that there was no way, whoever this earth manipulator boredom was, they could try to trap Haruhane down without seeing where he landed every time he did in the ground. Sarah then blinked, looking at the sky, noticing the middle school’s roof and she pointed, “Eisel-san! There’s somebody up there on the roof!” Haruhane immediately landed on the plantation for the middle school and the blonde watched widely as Haruhane threw back a fist solidly into the wall of the middle school.
CRACK[/I]. It seemed little at first, after all, there was only a little loud thunk sound that had came from Haruhane’s hit to the wall. However the crack quickly became more cracks, and they quickly traveled up all the way to the roof. Her breathe caught up in her throat, watching Haruhane take one step forward as the entire middle school collapsed, the boy on the top of the roof squishing through the building firmly. Sarah stared; it was all she really could do. It was real! It was really true! People could get bored with their lives and gain some kind of un-natural super power! Haruhane had the strength of a demon! Shards of rocks flew everywhere and Sarah found herself knocked out by a big one.
She felt so pathetic.
“Sarah, this will be hard for you to believe, and I’m putting it on to you far too early in your life…but there are many truths other there. A lot more truths then whatever truth your father’s sent you to find." Her sensei again…Sarah pondered for a second why she was remembering all of these words that he said when she was younger. “A lot of those truths nobody like us are supposed to find…But Sarah, if you find any of those truths…accept them. Please don’t make any lies for the future.” Was…was this really one of those truths? Was it possible for her to accept it though? She barely just now really believed it. She felt her eyes flutter and found herself waking up, she looked around and spotted herself in a familiar futon and blinked down at her appearance.
“These aren’t my clothes.” She noted, and then paled for a second. Recalling the earlier events.
“Gesellé-san!” The blonde looked over to the voice and smiled, relief pouring over her entire system.
“Shizuma-kun! You’re okay!” The boy frowned for a moment, looking down at her, whipping his hands with a washcloth. The teen seemed to pout for a second,
“‘Kun’? I thought I managed to get you to call me by Go-chan!” Sarah laughed a little, looking down, breathing in a calmed motion. It was definitely Ganego.
“Sorry,” she apologized earnestly then looked over to the small window in the room. It wasn’t extremely sunny outside it seemed and then she whispered, “Can I ask you something?” The boy blinked, then nodded, “Is it really real?” The teen sat on the ground to listen more closely to the blonde, “I mean…haven’t you ever really thought it was just a dream? Because…there’s just no way this could be real, right? I mean…normal people can’t just escape the world by signing a contract with God or the Devil, right?” Sarah started to play with her fingers, breathing nervously. “I feel like I could just pinch myself…and I’ll wake up…it’s too scary to be real.” At these words Ganego reached out to her cheek and pinched it harshly. The blonde gave a little whimper and Ganego laughed with a soft smile on his face,
“I guess it wouldn’t ever seem real to a ‘normal’ person. But it is, and you don’t need a pinch to tell you that.” The boy continued giving a soft smile and Sarah found herself staring as the red-eyed teenager continued speaking, “You want to know how I know it’s not a dream?” Ganego seemed to look up to the ceiling for a moment, “Because I like to believe that couldn’t dream this. Dreams…or what we believe are dreams tend not to make sense at all. What we call reality has at least some kind of meaning, so if the truth was that our dreams was reality…then who knows what reality is anymore?” The girl blinked and looked down nervously, laughing to herself.
“You’re right. Dreams don’t make sense.” The blonde then shook herself from the futon and got up, speaking to Ganego for a bit more then walked outside of the hide-out, spotting Izuru on a pillar, listening to music on a small little I-pod. Sarah stared and slowly realized that the illusion earlier was all from Izuru’s mind…so the song that was English…Sarah then swiped one of the ear pieces and started to listen to the song, translating it into Japanese for the confused brunet. When she was finished she laughed to herself, after all, it sounded more like a Japanese songs because of the strange lyrics.
The illusionist stared at her blankly with a quite visible confused look upon her face, so she started to answer. “Shizuma-kun told me…that I only managed to stay calm because you put the illusion of your mind into mine…so that song…was probably important to you.” Though what kind of importance, Sarah realized she probably would never understand. After all, Izuru couldn’t even understand the words, let alone be really impacted by it. Sarah then took a deep breath, “I’m not saying I’m a good person or anything, but you know…I probably can understand you a little more. You’re not really bitter or anything; you just hurt because that’s all you know how to deal with things. So…I’ll try to understand you more and become a friend to you, Tanaka-san.” Said brunet gave a random blinked and leaned forward a bit,
“Where’d you learn my name?” It was like she had been imparted a deep and ancient secret, Sarah laughed a little.
“Shizuma-kun told me.” The woman stared blankly for a moment then seemed to bow, embarrassing Sarah for a moment,
“Thank you.”
“…You’re welcome.” Sarah smiled deeply, she didn’t know much about Izuru, and apparently neither did Ganego. But someday, Sarah hoped that she could understand one mysterious fashion designer, Izuru Tanaka.
Chapter II. Notes (1) Middle School: Japan’s school is a little different then America’s. High school is only three grades while elementary and middle schools have one extra grade in them.

Chapter III. The Beginning of the End of my Life: Izuru's Story Part I.
"We are shaped and fashioned by what we love." -Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe [/I]
---...---...---...---...---...---...---...---
The beginning of the end of my life…was on a cold winter day of December 12.
Izuru Tanaka was basically a normal girl. She lived a normal life; she lived with a normal family. The only thing that wasn’t normal about her was when she got older, and that was when she turned into a fashion designer at an unbelievable young age. However before she could grow up, she would have to first be a child.
For many boredom people, they have ‘stages’ to the point that led them to sign their contract. Izuru had exactly two stages, her first stage happening when she was five years old. One day she was walking to an unknown place with her mother. Her mother dragged her little body uneasily as Izuru dug into the concrete whenever possible.
“’Kaaaa-saaaan (1)!” The young girl yelled, her pig-tails waving with her insistent hand, “I dun’ wanna go to some party!” Izuru’s mother gave a light sigh, looking down at her daughter then back at the street, which was covered with a white glossy snow.
“Izu-chan, this is important for daddy. Daddy works for this man, and it won’t be too bad. It’s the birthday of this man’s son.”
“I dun’ like stinky boys.” Izuru rudely interrupted and looked really upset, “Especially one’s who pull my pigtails!” She yelled and Izuru’s mother gave another sigh again and started to explain to her daughter once again the reason why the girl had pigtails.
“I’m sorry Izu-chan; it’s just that your hair’s so thick and long that I just have to put up in pigtails.” The woman shook her head then blinked, and Izuru stood there unimpressed by the mansion ahead of them. “Here we are…” The wife said lightly, blinking once as they entered the household. The instant Izuru’s mother let her go, Izuru ran off, grumbling to herself while a butler took their coats. The mother looked around for a moment and blinked, noticing a lack of a supposed party. “Where’s the birthday boy?” The butler, an old man that could look distinctly familiar if you had met him before, replied to the woman’s question.
“I’m afraid the young master and the mistress are too sick to rise from bed today.” A concerned look crossed the mother’s face,
“That must be terrible, being sick on your own birthday.”
“Yes, I’m afraid the younger master is sad because of it as well.” Izuru pulled her pigtails out and threw the scrunches that kept them up on the ground, giving them a very naughty finger (which she had yet to learn the meaning of, but she had seen her father doing it many times at the phone at home) and the girl mocked the scrunches before avoiding little boys running around the huge household. The brunette ran upstairs, hanging from the banisters and glared down. There weren’t any girls to play with, how boring. A sound caught her attention however and she moved towards a door that sounded sad.
Izuru peeked in curiously and saw a little being in a bunch, surrounded by blankets and the other seemed to be crying.
“What’s wrong?” Izuru asked, blinking in a sense of lack of understanding. The figure jumped from the blankets and stared at Izuru with wide eyes. It was a small boy with long brown hair that was pulled back in a crop ponytail; a bandage lay below his left eye to cover his entire cheek. However Izuru mistook this poor boy as a girl, which was understandable with the huge eyes full of tears this boy had.
“H-Hello…W-Who are you…?” Izuru ignored the question and jumped up on the bed, hugging the other person with a happy grin on her face.
“YAY! I found a cute girl to play with!” While said boy was incredibly confused, he didn’t care enough to correct her. That and she spoke quickly before he could actually interject, “I’m Izuru neechan, (2) ‘kay?”
“…H…Haru…” Izuru gave a big deep grin to the other brunet and dragged the boy from his bed and outside from his safe room.
“Come on then Haru-chan!”
“I-I’m not allowed…”
“Don’t worry! With me everything’s okay!” She quickly interrupted him, full of confidence and over bundling with energy. Haru let himself be taken by Izuru, the girl pulling on his hand relentlessly and he stared back at his room once before Izuru spoke loudly down to the floor area, “’KAA-SAAAAN! WE’RE GOING TO GO PLAY OUTSIDE, OKAY!?”
“Okay! Just be safe!” The mother trusted her daughter’s judgment, glad that the girl had found something to occupy her time with. The young girl then led Haru outside from a side-door that the mansion had (a butler seemed to blink at the two, but nodded lightly in their direction) and once they had reached the ground of the side garden Izuru gave a loud noise.
“Wow! I’ve never seen the snow so pretty!” Neither had Haru, as he stared in amazement with her. Haru then frowned a little timidly and looked at the girl,
“Are you sure it’s okay for me to be out here?” Izuru gave her own version of a confused blink then just laughed,
“Uh-huh!” The girl then started to move forward into the snow, where it had started to drift to the ground slightly in a quiet phase. Izuru gave a loud sigh and started twisting around in a circle, her hands spread out cheerfully. The brunette then gave Haru a great grin, “Haru-chan, do you like snow? I love it! It’s like cold rain but it’s white, and my favorite color’s white. I just love the snow!” Haru stared at the sky for a moment quietly then held his hands out. The boy watched as the snow melted coldly and lightly into his open hands.
“I…I’ve never felt the snow before today…” Haru admitted quietly, not expecting the other one to hear him at all. Izuru jumped into the boy’s face and yelled in a disbelievable tone,
“SERIOUSLY!?” The girl then grabbed his hands eagerly in a demand for future answers, “That’s just crazy! You’ve never been in a snow ball fight, or made any snow angels, or even a snowman?” Haru shook his head and Izuru held both of the boy’s hands and gave him a look that was pathetically cute. With her charisma, Izuru then forced Haru to start playing with her in all of these aforementioned events, of which Haru seemed to enjoy greatly.
After almost collapsing from a snowball fight, Izuru dragged Haru to a place that seemed to be there for afternoon brunches when the summer was around. Izuru and Haru both sat beneath a table there and Izuru gave Haru another cheerful smile. “I haven’t had this much fun in a long time. Thank you Haru-chan.” The boy gave a light blush and looked down with his own sheepish smile.
“Thank you…Izuru-neechan…” The girl kept smiling but then blinked and pointed at the boy’s bandage.
“Haru-chan, you should take that off! It’s wet!” The boy hesitated and he reached for the bandage, the hand resting on the bandage as though contemplating if he really should do what Izuru suggested or not. Haru’s hand then left and he gave a fake smile over to the girl,
“It’ll be fine…” Izuru gave a little pout and stared at it a little closer,
“Why do you have one anyway? Did you get into a fight?” Before the boy could answer Izuru continued, “I bet you did. Probably got the boring lecture it’s not proper for a young lady. WELL WHATEVER!” The girl threw her arms into the air and gave Haru a light glare, “You fought back some punk who pulled your ponytail, didn’t you? Well don’t worry anymore! Izuru-neechan will protect you from now on!” Izuru then surrounded the boy with her arms into a light-embracing hug. Haru, at first seemed confused, but the words slowly made the mark to his mind.
‘It was really sad. I didn’t know then…but Haru-chan truly needed to hear something like that…though I suppose that just made it that much sadder.' Haru moved a little, embracing the girl back and started to sob into her little dress, the snow started to stop lightly outside. Izuru, mistaking what the boy was crying about continued to try and give him comfort. “Don’t cry Haru-chan, I know how it feels. There’s this mean boy at school, he always pulls my hair when it’s in pigtails.” The girl looked away slightly, “But…I don’t want to cut my hair because even when I don’t see daddy often, he always calls me his long-haired princess…”
Izuru looked away slightly as she felt a little shame drifting into her subconscious, “Daddy always sounds sad when he hears I’ve been in a fight though…so I know Haru-chan. I know.” Haru had stopped crying, but he was still obviously sad. The boy seemed to tense in Izuru’s arms, confusing the girl and Haru shook his head once before escaping from the warmth that Izuru’s arms held. The boy slowly started to speak,
“Izuru-neechan…I think I…know why…” Izuru gave a little yelp as Haru pulled part of her hair and Izuru gave a sad concerned look but Haru looked back with a dark blush on his face, “…he pulls your hair…” While the girl was confused, Haru leaned and gave the girl a kiss on the cheek; using the hair he grabbed to give him slight leverage. Immediately Izuru backed away from the boy, a blush deep on her face.
“H-H-Haru-chan!” She explained surprised and Haru only looked down, a blush still penetrating his face.
“…It’s because he likes you…” While this sentence didn’t really mean much when you were younger, and it would take awhile to penetrate your sense, Izuru gave a blink and stared.
“He…likes me?” A moment of silence crossed the two, and Haru jumped when Izuru jumped up, pointing at Haru with an accusatory look, “You stole my first kiss!” The girl blamed the boy then she turned around, laughing and giggling, not knowing quite what had happened between the two. Haru seemed completely confused on this change.
‘My first ‘kiss’ and that was the beginning of the downfall of my life…’ “Neh, neh, Haru-chan, does he really like me?” Izuru questioned cutely, not seeing the saddened look on Haru’s face.
“IZURU!” Izuru turned around and gave a cheerful smile to her mother.
“Oh! ‘kaa-san!” Izuru turned around again and stared blankly as she was about to address Haru again, only to find the boy she thought was a girl was gone.
‘I never saw Haru-chan after that day…I think she ‘moved’.’ One may ask what triggered this memory of a child-hood long lost. Izuru did and she decided to blame the album book she was looking through.

“Izuru!” D.J.’s voice interrupted her thoughts, which she easily welcomed and looked over to the red-skinned being that raised an eyebrow at the book Izuru was looking through. “What’s that?” Izuru moved a bit in her chair, positioning the picture book so that D.J. could look through it if he wanted too and replied,
“Azreal-san left this scrapbook. It was weird pictures of us all.” This was really weird considering Azreal had barely met Haruhane and Sarah a long while ago. The d’jinn flouted a bit to look at the pictures more closely and Izuru pointed at a picture of him and Azreal, except it was more like Azreal taped head-shots of the two on a fantasy picture. D.J. seemed to stare at the picture for a while with an angry contemplation. “Would I be wrong to assume that Azreal is deeply infatuated with you?” The brunette asked and D.J. reared back in surprise from her question and began yelling back,
“Infatuation is the most inappropriate word for it!”
“Really? He kinda looks gay for you.” A voice interrupted his explanation and D.J. turned around angrily to yell at the interference,
“What are you doing here!?” He asked in surprised and Sarah gave a tired sigh.
“Shizuma-kun needs help in math.” Ganego was bent by her side, looking over at the picture for a moment and seemed to blank for a moment.
“But she’s right…I hadn’t noticed it before, but he does seem a little…forward to you.” The dark-haired boy went into a contemplation mode, recalling how many few times Azreal was around and how he addressed D.J. most often. D.J. twitched and explained,
“You can all only say that crap with comfort because none of you will ever know Azreal like I do.” Sarah then seemed to shrug and pulled out a case and out from that case eyeglasses, covering her eyes quickly and dragging Ganego to what she assumed was his room. D.J. stared as the girl went off and questioned in a rhetorical way, “The hell bit her on the butt?”
“I assume it’s because she has to deal with Go-chan more because of the mishap of Eisel breaking the middle school building down.” Izuru answered though and D.J. suddenly understood.
“Ah…anyone would be driven crazy dealing with Go in that situation.” Izuru nodded and turned another page to her newest book, staring at the pictures. While in the room Ganego sat eagerly at a kotatsu (3), while Sarah took out all of her textbooks. Ganego looked at the frames on Sarah’s face and blinked,
"Gesellé-san, do you really wear those type of glasses?” He asked, staring at the thick frames with amazement. Sarah blinked from her frames and shrugged, a light blush surrounding her cheeks,
“Only when I’m going to do intense studying of some kind…I picked thick frames on purpose because I thought it made me look smart.” Ganego laid on the table and complimented the blonde.
“Gesellé-san is smart enough she doesn’t need thick frames. Besides, it’s kind of creepy. You remind me Haru-chan.” Sarah stared into the air for a bit in contemplation to this and felt like she was on a rainbow for being compared to Haruhane. However that rainbow soon disappeared a few hours later and Sarah found herself completely exhausted, as well as the boy across from her. Papers lay on the side completely torn or smashed together in frustration, eraser marks were everywhere by the end of the studies. Ganego was truly hopeless when it came to math, Sarah decided, getting up and leaving to walk back to Eisel manor.
The girl walked down the lighted streets calmly but panicked as a hand threw itself in front of her mouth with a cloth full of the cliché knockout. Morning came, school came as well and it went. Ganego had walked out of the hideout and he had walked back in, though he was slightly curious on the disappearance of Sarah. Ganego started to unbutton his shirt and D.J. scorned him for having no modesty as he stripped. Ganego then went over to Izuru (who was reading a translated novel) and muttered, “Izu-chan, can you call Haru-chan while I go change?” Ganego never liked his school uniform.
“Sure.” Izuru replied simply and did as asked, but as five minutes passed Ganego ended up swiping the phone from Izuru’s grasp, hearing nothing but silence from both ends of the line. Neither of the two had the common sense to at least say hello on the phone! Ganego then gave a laugh and started speaking to the other recipient.
“Hey, Haru-chan, glad I got your cell while I saw you. So how’s Gesellé-san?” There was a moment of silence, as though the person on the other side of the line was trying to determine if the dark-haired teen was joking or not.
“…She’s not over there?” There was a terrified moment of a longer silence and Ganego managed to whisper in a not so eager tone,
“She didn’t go to your home last night?”
“I had assumed she had to stay to teach you variables in math.” Ganego could swear he heard the other person mutter something about how horrible his grades were in math but Ganego muttered back,
“And you haven’t seen her all day?”
“No.” Terror swept in Ganego’s entire bloodline and he managed to choke out,
“Haru-chan…please meet us at the hide-out.” Haruhane agreed and half-an-hour later, Haruhane was at the hideout, listening to Ganego’s explanation of how the night went. The eldest of the two thought about it and let Ganego finished before placing his interpretation to the table.
“Chances are, she’s been kidnapped.” Ganego gave a glare in disbelief.
“In a quiet city like this? No way!”
“Actually it’s very likely.” Izuru spoke for the second time that afternoon and explained of a recent case of a serial killer that had been on the news and in the papers for the last month now. The police had yet to really catch the culprit and Ganego jumped at this in fear.
“Seriously?”
“Yes, and you would know this if you didn’t watch just anime all day.” The woman gave her own blanked version of a glare.
--…---…---…---…---…---
‘I’m scared, oh God. I’m so scared. Oh God…please help me…’ It was dark, her mouth was gagged with duct tape and her eyes covered with some type of bandage. Sarah was sure there were others there by her, as she could feel the heat around her in the cold room. There was a loud piercing scream in the air that begged for whatever torture was happening to her to stop. ‘Is this is how it’s going to end? You would think I would have been more guarded because of the boredom…but this guy isn’t a boredom, he’s a different kind of killer. I don’t know if that calms me or just makes me ill…’

“Well now that you’ve figured out what’s likely, what are you going to do about it?” D.J. questioned, and Ganego gave a glare over the darker skinned magical being.
“You’re not helping?”
“You know I’m not allowed to directly interfere with human affairs.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
“Either way.”
“We’re going to go save her.” Haruhane and Izuru spoke together; both of them giving a dark stare over to the door. They both then headed to the object of their punishment and opened it.
“Wait, you have no idea where you’re going!” Ganego tried to stop the two but they both replied back,
“We’ll guess.” It was in complete synchronization, so it was kind of creepy. But Ganego wasn’t bugged by it, he stared at the closed door and gave a light smile to it, running out and closing the door behind him. Ganego quickly caught up with the both of them and frowned a bit,
“Guessings good an’ all, but do you know what you can guess?”
“It’s easy.” Haruhane replied, it was almost like he brought out a diagram to explain the simples to Ganego. Haruhane’s mansion was approximately one and a half miles away from the hide-out if you took a short-cut. It was likely that Sarah was taken from that short-cut that was in the alley-ways, so then all they would have to do is search for track marks and they should be to find Sarah considering the layout of the town wasn’t completely finished with the dirt alleyways.
“Haru…you’re pretty smart, aren’t you?”
“I suppose.” The group continued to make their move.
--…---…---…---…---…---
‘I’d be lying if I said I want to live life to do more with my life…but I just want to live to be like sensei. He understood things that I can’t even to begin to fathom.’ Sarah’s thoughts paced all around the room, screaming and yelling at her in fear of the soon to come rape and murder. The screams in the air didn’t help her imagination of the upcoming event of terror. Sarah felt tears building up in her covered eyes; the darkness was definitely getting to her as well. ‘I just want to be like him…I don’t care if I’m…just as long as I can live…’
The tears finally started pouring as she started to think of her home. Oh she really missed her little brother, her step-father, and her mother. ‘I’m terrified. I hear the screams of a girl I don’t know throughout the entire room. It echoes…and I feel like it’s killing me every time I hear it bounce off the walls.’ The blonde leaned in her chair as comfortably as one could tied to it. Sarah debated what she was most afraid of the two acts that could possibly happen to her. Sarah then thought death was the worse.
“What the? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!?” There was an ugly sound and confusion stopped all of the girls in the room. Sarah then froze entirely as a hand brushed her face, a light breath lingered on her face and then it left as soon as it came. Sarah quietly thanked God as she had thought it was her turn for sure at that time. There was an eerie silence when the blonde noticed that the screams had stopped. They had stopped!
--…---…---…---…---…---
Haruhane had managed to find the tracks and started to guide the other two to where he assumed was Sarah’s dragged off marks. Ganego felt guilt building in his subconscious as he stared at the dragged marks. This was his entire fault. He didn’t really think anything like this could and would happen…then again…the truth was…he was just selfish. He wanted someone ‘normal’.
‘I needed someone normal to talk to. Someone who knew what about what I do and they could still talk to me. I needed someone like Sarah…so I purposely avoided erasing her memory…’ The dark-haired boy then gave a grieved sigh. He supposed that was over now, he enjoyed it…and he wished he would be able to talk to her after the entire thing was finished…but…what high schooler talks to some middle schooler? ‘I’m sorry Gesellé-san, and I’m too selfish and scared to ever tell you.’ They had made it to their destination as Haruhane forced a door open and though it was slightly dark, they made their way through.
Ganego immediately ran up to Sarah first and uncovered the blonde’s eyes. “Gesellé-san! A-Are you okay?” The red-eyed boy feared the worse, especially when Sarah lunged forward, crying deeply. Izuru and Haruhane went to the side where there was a curtain blocking a huge square area of the area. Ganego untied the other two and Sarah, while giving the other two traumatized girls a pill, suggesting they take it as soon as possible. Either way, the two girls were eternally grateful and Sarah stared around, seeing that Izuru and Haruhane were off to that private side of the room.
“Shizuma-kun, what are they doing?” The blonde asked, spotting that the two were holding hands and their mouths were moving lightly and quietly.
“…Praying…” Ganego slowly replied, as the other two girls ran off to go back home.
“Why would they need to do that?” Sarah questioned, but Ganego was visibly not going to answer that question, and the blonde walked up to the two, feeling a little jealous of the two. Considering that she had yet to hold Haruhane’s hand before…but…Sarah soon found herself incredibly stupid. “What are you-” Both of them had stopped speaking and had closed their eyes. Sarah felt so much like an idiot as she saw what they had been praying at.
A girl was on a rough bed, blood surrounded the back of her body and by the side hanging by a rail by his own intestines was the serial killer. Sarah stared at the room, stared at the killer with disgust and terror then finally to the girl. Bile built up in her throat and anger started to cover her entire body as she weakly fell down to the ground. Tears building up from the sight. The blonde realized that that could have been her. That the person lying in the bed, dead from the loss of blood…could have been her! If it…if it had been her…would those two just be standing above the body, just praying?
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO!?” She screamed at the two who turned to face her. Their faces…she had never seen them as blank as today, and she felt her anger swarming deeply in the recesses of her mind, screaming and yelling at her. Sarah continued with her rant, “You’re both acting like there isn’t a dead body in front of you! You wanna respect the dead? Then cry you bastards!” She cried out, how could they act like she wasn’t there? They dared to mock the poor girl’s body by just praying? “What the hell is wrong with you two!?”
“They can’t help it Gesellé-san,” Ganego’s voice interrupted her tirade and he walked near to her. The boy stared at the blonde for quite a few moments then looked away, giving a sad smile. He was sorry…it was impossible for any normal person to understand. He was sorry for trying to force her into understanding. “It’s something that happens when you sign the contract with God. You have no real emotional feelings…for yourself or anybody else…it’s just one of the quirks of the good boredom.” Ganego then bent down next to the blonde, dropping something in her hand and the other teen blinked, staring at her hand.
“Shizuma-kun, what’s this?” She asked innocently, and it hurt him to answer.
“It’s a wish pill. D.J.-san had managed to find a loophole in the contract he has with God…it already has the wish to forget about the kidnapping and anything involving boredom…go ahead and take it.” The boy felt real sadness piercing his heart. It’s been a long time since he had felt this kind of sadness…but if it makes Sarah safe…then it really didn’t matter. The blonde sat there for awhile, contemplating the magic of what she had just been given. Oh…she was extremely tempted by it. The girl was dangerously close to putting it into her mouth.
“Sensei, I want you to be my new father.”
“Eh? Your mom’s kinda too old for my type. Besides, your father isn’t dead yet.”
“…He is…he died early this morning.” The young girl tilted her head away, “Father kept telling me weird things…something about a truth.” Her dyed-hair blonde sensei stared at her for a moment then looked away…a blush overcame his face and he quietly replied to the girl,
“Sarah…I’ll be your new dad on one condition. Any, and I mean any, truth you find, you’ll accept.”
…She couldn’t. If she rejected it in her memories, it meant she wasn’t accepting this ‘truth’. The blonde burst into heavy tears, throwing the pill away from her, crying a little harder.
“I can’t! I can’t just forget! I came Japan for one reason and if I just forget then that reason will be for naught! I have to learn how to accept things! I can just forget! No matter how much I want to!” Sarah kept crying, she tried to cover her eyes in shame that she was blubbering like a baby, but it seemed too much to her. Sarah jumped when arms surrounded her softly and a soft voice whispered to her, guiding her into the warmth of her bosom,
“Don’t worry. Izuru-neechan will protect you from now on…I promise. There’s no reason to cry or to be afraid.” Izuru patted the blonde’s long hair, and though her voice was emotionless, it made Sarah feel comfortable either way.
“Izuru-neechan…thank you…” Izuru just nodded to this and the four started to get out of the warehouse, leaving an anonymous tip to the police about the serial killer’s body and the poor girl. The four then hid out back at the hide-out and they spent the rest of the day, calming down the blonde who was still crying. Night came like it always had too and Sarah crawled outside to stare at the dark sky and the light lights from the streets. Ganego had followed her and stared at the girl quietly…
“You gonna be okay?”
“…Eventually.” The blue-eyed girl admitted softly. “I…I just have to think on it. I…I think I overreacted.” The blonde gave a sarcastic chuckle and Ganego gave his own laugh, replying in the blonde’s best interests,
“You know, God took Sunday off for a reason.”
“I doubt it was to think about superpowers and bad things about the world Shizuma-kun.” The boy sighed,
“Maaaan. Can’t I get you go call me Go-chan like you call Izuru, Izuru-neechan?” The girl gave a light giggle and looked back up at the sky, finally seeing the moon.
“Maybe someday Shizuma-kun.”
